9 MONTHS LATER: FRIDAY DECEMBER 22
I sat Megumi on the bathroom sink and brushed his wet hair.
"Can we do it spikey again?" Megumi gave me puppy dog eyes in the mirror.
"Anything for the birthday boy," I squeezed him. Today is Megumi's 5th birthday, which means he gets to call the shots today. He even picked out his own outfit this morning for school; Lightning McQueen shirt and jeans.
"Mimi?" Megumi asked, "Can Gojo come to my birthday party tonight?"
"I'm gonna see him later and I'll ask him if he has any plans. I'm sure he'd love to come," I sprayed some hairspray onto the back of his head.
"Okay, all finished," I smiled as he looked in the mirror in awe of his hair, "Go show Daddy."
I helped Megumi off the counter and he ran to the kitchen, where Toji was making him chocolate chip pancakes.
"DADDY!! LOOK!!" Megumi stood in front of him posing to show off his hair and outfit.
"Wow birthday boy, you're gonna show everyone up at school today huh?" Toji picked up Megumi and squeezed him.
Megumi ate his breakfast and then we went to drop him off at school. We were nervous about him starting kindergarten because he doesn't make friends easily, but we quickly found out his best friend Yuji is in his class and our nerves were eased.
"Have a good day," Toji and I said in unison to Megumi as we sent him off. I watched him run up to Yuji and give him a big hug, and then Toji drove us to my apartment to get more of my stuff. Toji asked me to move in with them last week, so we've slowly been moving my stuff over since my lease isn't up until new years.
I opened the door and we saw Suki lying on the floor, and Gojo packing up my kitchen stuff.
"Good morning," Gojo smiled as he saw us, "I got the bathroom stuff all packed last night after you left, and then wanted to get a head start on the kitchen. Geto was supposed to help but he's still being cranky about the whole situation." Ugh, Geto. I don't get what his problem is, he's just like my dad. Just be happy for me.
"Gojo you really didn't have to," I took my shoes off at the door.
"That's what I told him but he insisted on helping his bestie," Suki said from the couch.
"Buy me lunch and we'll call it even," He made himself laugh. What a goofball.
I went into my bedroom with Toji to pack the rest of my clothes. After that, the packing was completely done and we just had to move it into the house. I already sold or donated all the furniture, except the couch which is going to Gojo anyway. He said he wanted an army of couches, and who am I to object?
"You guys don't have to stay the whole day, but Megumi reeeeally wants Gojo to come to his birthday party tonight," I closed the car door. Recently, Gojo has been the most supportive of all my decisions and somehow we got even closer. He's been way more like family recently. He hangs out with me and Megumi a lot, Megumi absolutely loves him.
Suki, on the other hand, is being way more cautious about my relationship. She thinks I'm moving way too fast, and I haven't considered all my options, whatever the fuck that means. Her and Gojo have been fighting a lot recently too. I'm not sure how much longer they'll be able to take it.
"I can't, me and Geto made plans to go to a sip and paint tonight," Suki said as she hoisted up a box, Gojo quickly taking it from her upon realizing it was too heavy. Suki and Geto have been hanging out a lot lately as well. It's like we swapped best friends.
