The rest of the lecture was a blur.

Kiara tried to focus....she really did but the way Agastya  carried himself, the way his voice sent an unexpected shiver down her spine, made it impossible.

Her friends hadn’t shut up about him since the moment he walked in. Aisha kept sending her knowing glances, Priya was pretending to take notes but was clearly sneaking glances at him, and Aryan true to his nature was already planning ways to flirt with the man.

"I swear, I don’t care if he’s our professor. I’d fail his class just to get some one-on-one tutoring," Aryan whispered.

"You’d fail it even without that excuse," Rohan snorted, making the others chuckle.

"Shh," Kiara hissed, nudging Aryan before he got them caught.

Agastya continued explaining the syllabus, his voice calm and authoritative. He spoke with such ease, effortlessly shifting between topics. There was no nervousness, no uncertainty, just pure confidence.

She hated to admit it, but he was… impressive.

"You will be required to submit a research paper at the end of the semester," Agastya announced, pushing up the sleeves of his shirt slightly. Kiara heard Aisha inhale sharply beside her.

"Oh, for god’s sake," she muttered under her breath.

Agastya’s gaze flickered in her direction, and Kiara instantly regretted speaking.

Their eyes met again brief, yet intense. It wasn’t intentional, but for some reason, she couldn’t look away.

His expression was unreadable. Not amused, not annoyed… just observing.

Then, as if nothing had happened, he turned back to his laptop and continued speaking.

Kiara exhaled slowly, feeling her heart hammer against her ribs.

"You’re so doomed," Aisha whispered, smirking.

"I am not doomed," Kiara shot back.

But she wasn’t entirely sure she believed it.

After class, Kiara and her friends lingered outside the lecture hall, still reeling from the morning’s events.

"Okay, but did you see how he explained the syllabus? It was so… mesmerizing," Priya gushed.

"You mean how he breathed?" Rohan teased.

"I’m just saying, if I have to suffer through boring lectures, at least let them be taught by a Greek god," Priya shrugged.

"You all need help," Kiara muttered, adjusting her bag strap.

"And you need to admit that he totally has his eye on you," Aisha added.

Kiara groaned. "It was a glance, Aisha, not a marriage proposal."

But before Aisha could argue, a familiar voice cut through their conversation.

"If you all spent as much time studying as you do gossiping, I wouldn’t have to fail half the class this semester."

Silence.

The group turned in unison, only to find him standing a few feet away.

Agastya Agarwal.

Leaning casually against the doorframe, arms crossed, expression unreadable.

Kiara’s stomach dropped.

Her friends scrambled to not look guilty, but they failed miserably. Aisha practically turned into a statue, Priya’s eyes widened, and Aryan, braver than the rest simply grinned.

"Oh, we were just discussing our academic goals, Professor," Aryan said smoothly.

Agastya’s lips twitched slightly almost a smirk, but not quite.

"I’m sure you were." His eyes flickered to Kiara, lingering for a second too long. "Ms. Mehta, if you have something to say during my lecture next time, I’d prefer you say it louder so everyone can benefit."

Kiara’s cheeks burned.

Shit.

"Noted, sir," she replied, keeping her voice even.

He held her gaze for a moment before finally walking past them, heading toward his office.

The moment he was out of sight, her friends exploded.

"OH MY GOD."

"KIARA."

"You’re so screwed."

Kiara groaned, rubbing her temples. This semester had just started, and she already knew one thing for sure.

Staying out of trouble?
