Kiara woke to the warmth of a body beside her.

For a moment, she forgot everything. Forgot where she was, forgot the weight of what had happened.

All she knew was this. Agastya's arm draped over her waist, his breath fanning against her bare shoulder, his body still tangled with hers.

It felt... right.

And that terrified her.

Because this wasn't supposed to happen.

Not again.

Her heart pounded as she turned slightly, taking him in. His face was softer in sleep, the sharp edges of his features relaxed, his lashes casting shadows against his cheekbones.

He looked different like this. Like the walls he always kept up had finally cracked.

She should wake him. Should break this moment before reality came crashing in.

But then his grip on her waist tightened, as if even in sleep, he wasn't ready to let go.

Kiara sucked in a breath, her fingers twitching with the urge to reach out, to trace the lines of his face, to memorize this side of him.

But before she could, Agastya stirred.

His eyes fluttered open, dark and unreadable as they locked onto hers.

For a long moment, neither of them spoke.

The silence stretched, thick with unspoken words.

Then, instead of pulling away, instead of getting up and pretending like nothing had happened like he always did. Agastya did something different.

He stayed.

His fingers brushed against her hip, his gaze flickering to her lips before settling back on her eyes.

"Morning," he murmured, his voice rough with sleep.

Kiara swallowed. "Morning."

This was new.

No regret. No immediate retreat.

Just him. Still here.

A part of her wanted to push, to ask what this meant. But another part of her, the part that had been burned too many times before was afraid of the answer.

So instead, she offered a small smile. "Didn't think you'd still be here."

His jaw tightened slightly, but not in frustration. More like... hesitation. Like even he wasn't sure why he hadn't left yet.

"I didn't want to leave," he admitted, his voice quieter now, more vulnerable.

Kiara's breath caught.

This was different.

Agastya never admitted things like this.

She searched his face, trying to figure out what had changed. "And now?" she asked carefully.

He exhaled, his thumb absently tracing circles against her skin. "Now... I don't know."

Honest. Raw.

Something shifted between them in that moment.

This wasn't just lust. Wasn't just another reckless night.

This was something more.

Kiara's heart pounded as she reached up, her fingers brushing against his jaw. "Then don't leave."

Agastya closed his eyes for a second, as if battling himself.

But when he opened them again, he didn't pull away.

Instead, he leaned in, pressing a slow, lingering kiss to her forehead before resting his against hers.

"I don't want to," he admitted.

And for the first time, Kiara let herself believe him.

Let herself hope.

Even though she knew hope was dangerous.

Even though she knew that, sooner or later, Agastya would have to decide.

Because whatever this was between them it wasn't just physical anymore.

And pretending otherwise was no longer an option.
