Chapter 4

" Windclaw. I would like you to go on hunting patrol with Greyfeather, whitefang and eagle wing," Goldstar said.
" but I have to take Bristlepaw to training?" Windclaw realised she hasn't spent that much time with the young Tom cat, she has been so caught up in hunting patrols.
" don't worry, huskclaw has it covered." She said promptly.
" oh, OK." Windclaw stood up and called for Greyfeather and whitefang, eaglewing was already by her. Once they all met up, they set out for the hunting patrol.
As they walked though the naked trees, Windclaw heard a rustle in the bear bushes, reviling a vole nibbling at an acorn.
Windclaw immediately got into hunters crouch, and slowly pawstep-by-pawstep crept after it. Just when the time was right, she pounced onto her prey and bite into its neck. Leaving the voles lifeless body in her jaws, ready to eat.
She then realised this was a chance to speak to Greyfeather about the strange cat that Goldstar spoke about in her meeting.
" hey, Greyfeather!" She said.
The finch he was stalking on flew away with just in beat of its wing.
" mousedung!" He spat as it flew away.
" sorry Greyfeather, I didn't realise you were hunting." Windclaw looked at the ground.
" what is it?" He asked, clearly annoyed by the situation.
" can you please tell me who the cat is? I want to know!" She asked, hoping that he would say it this time.
" stop talking about him..don't worry about it." He quickened his pace, and Windclaw could see a glint of fear in his eyes.
" please tell me!" She pleaded again, but this time he seemed frustrated.
" Windclaw, stop. I'm not telling you, it's an upsetting subject for me-for all of us! So keep your mouth shut or I'll do it for you." He snapped.
Windclaw felt like just a small kit, crying for its mother. Did she just get in an argument with her best friend? But she was still put off by the fact he wouldn't tell her who he was, so maybe she had to try ask someone else.
