Lloyd POV

I couldn't sleep. I wandered the hallways, subconsciously walking to Kai's room. I opened the door, but when I saw it empty, I felt my heart drop a centimeter. I closed the door behind me and scanned the room. It was clean, and most of the clothes were gone. I missed my older brother.
I swept my finger over the bed's footboard, and when I looked at my hand, there was a light layer of dust. Rubbing it off onto my pants, I drifted around the room. It felt like no one had been in there for a long time. Only, it hadn't been a long time. I hoped, wherever he was, he was happy. I shook briefly, goosebumps forming on my arms. The room had always been warmed by Kai's presence, but with him gone, it had dropped in temperature, becoming cold and uninviting. I went to the kitchen, grabbing a long-sleeved shirt on the way, and returned with a cloth to dust the bedroom. As I worked, my heart panged with an emotion I couldn't quite place, but I pushed it away. Don't be that way, Lloyd! It was his choice to go. He'll be back. I picked up a dusty photo and wiped the rag over it. It was a picture of Ray, Maya, Kai, Nya, Jay, Cole, and Lou. My eyes rested on my brother and his husband; the photo was taken the day of the wedding. It was only a week(ish) ago. I set the photo down, hoping that they'd come back soon.
