Twenty four

As the Sunny sailed, the refreshing ocean breeze gently brushed against its sails. Seeking refuge from the sun, you found yourself in the corner where the ship's motion only added to the uneasiness in your stomach.

It's surprising that staying on land for a few days can cause motion sickness later.

When you opened your eyes, Brook was there with a drink.

"Here little one, its ginger ale. It'll help with that upset tummy of yours." He crouches down to your level to hand you the glass.

"Thank you, Brook." You gave him a smile and wasted no time downing the drink.

Without warning, an explosive blast caused you to leap in surprise.

"What was that?!" You shot up.

"I'm okay!" You heard Usopp say from upstairs.

You laughed and went back to drinking the life saving ale.

"Another glass??" Brook offers.

"Maybe later, let's see if I can regain my sea legs." You say while stretching.

You strolled around the ship, discussing music and various other subjects with Brook.

"Your musical knowledge is quite remarkable, my dear."

"Why, thank you. I have a passion for music, the violin and guitar mostly." You say.

"You play? I thought you only played the lute."

"I can play a bit of the violin as well. I just didn't prefer the lute."

"Little one, would you kindly grace me with a bit of your music?" Gesturing towards his violin, Brook asked with a hopeful expression.

You couldn't help but smile at the skeleton and grabbed the violin. "Well, when you ask like that, I can't say no to you, Brook."

With a gentle touch, you cradled the violin against your shoulder, feeling the smooth wood beneath your fingertips. While carefully tuning the instrument, you could feel the anticipation in the air, making sure that all the strings were perfectly harmonized.

As you position the bow, you take a deep breath and played. The air was filled with a melodic tune that gracefully moved around the room. The sound resonated with emotion, carrying a sense of longing and joy all at once. Brook's non existent eyes sparkled with delight as he listened, his bony fingers tapping along to the rhythm.

Lost in the music, you let your fingers dance across the strings, allowing the melody to guide your movements. Like an artist's brush on a canvas, each note beautifully portrayed the emotions that streamed from your heart.

Brook's smile grew wider as you continued to play. It was as if the world around you had faded away, leaving only the two of you and the ethereal sounds that filled the air.

A quiet calm settled over the room as the final note resonated. The silence in the room was filled with a profound sense of gratitude and awe. Brook's expression was one of pure bliss.

You carefully returned the violin to its case, feeling a wave of fulfillment wash over you.

Turning towards Brook, you flashed a soft smile as he applauded enthusiastically.

"Beautiful! Absolutely magnificent! Wonderfully done, my dear!" He cheered.

You gave a curtsy as Brook continued to clap. "You never mentioned you had such a talent for making a violin sing."

"Oh Brook, it wasn't that good." You say.

"Nonsense, you were wonderful. It's been years since I've heard such a beautiful melody."

"You really think so?" You asked.

"I wouldn't lie to you. I know a talented young woman when I see one." Brook swipes your cheek with his thumb.

You smiled. "It felt nice playing the violin again. Never thought I would miss it."

You heard a sudden knock on the doorframe, and it was Sanji. "(y/n), Mon Coeur, any suggestions for lunch?"

You paused briefly, then redirected your attention to the cook. "I'm craving shrimp ceviche. Would that be okay?"

Sanji gives you a smile. "Of course, precious. I'll get started right away."

Once Sanji left the doorway, you shifted your attention back to Brook. "Brook, I know I've been practicing my Dizi. But, I think I want to change over to the violin. Would that be okay?"

Brook looks down at you. "Little one, you play whatever your heart desires."

You looked up at him with a smile.

"Thank you."
