"Three hundred of you survived the parapet today to become riders. "General Panchek starts with a political smile and gestures to us. "Good job. Sixty-seven did not" that many people dead in just a couple hours. As General Panchek talked, my eyes scanned the area for my brother.
When I found him, he was talking to xaden. They seemed like good friends, Which is annoying. Why does my brother have such hot friends? I want to jump.................... OKAY, THEN, THAT IS ENOUGH OF THAT HESTIA YOU FEIND. But looking at xaden closer, it felt like I knew him from somewhere I just don't know where.
I was brought out of my ungodly when I felt Bella shift, trying to look at the stage, so I moved her so she was resting on my hip. When Nyra, the girl with the list, I prayed that we would be in the same wing as me. I was brought out of my thoughts as I heard my name called out. I was in the second squad, flame section.
I stood there for a second, staring at Bella, my heart racing. Still, as soon as my worry came, it left as I heard her call out, "Belladonna riorson," and the panic came back as I realized the guy I had been drooling over all day is her brother. Still, at that moment, I couldn't care less as I put Bella on the ground, her hand in mine, as we walked over to Rihanna and Violet.
After we were all sorted into our sections, I saw Xaden talking to nyra before walking over to dain. "Dain, your squad will switch with Aura Beinhven's group." as she said that, I saw Violet looking around before her face fell with worry. I was confused about why she was scared until I saw who our new wing leader, XADEN, would be. Which means we are at his mercy. Shit, that's not good. She and xaden are like mortal enemies, but like shit was he hot.
"You're all cadets now," Xaden's strong and deep voice carries across the courtyard. Take a look at your squad. These are the only people guaranteed by the Codex not to kill you. But just because they can't end your life doesn't mean others won't. You want a dragon? Earn one." everyone cheered at the words xaden said except me, Rihanna, Violet, and bella. Who was hiding her face in my leg as she tried to shut out the noise, her hands over her ears. I ran my hand over her curly hair, trying to calm her down and comfort her.
The cheers calmed down again as xaden continued to talk.
"I bet you feel pretty badass right now, don't you first years. You feel invincible after the parapet, don't you?" he Shouts. "Think you're untouchable! You're on the way to becoming elite! The few! The chosen!" The cheers got louder and louder, scaring bella and me more, but I quickly realized that it wasn't the cheers of people but the beating of wings.
I watched as they perched on the wall, their gallons digging into the stone. A few cadets screamed, and then they were quickly turned into ash. They were so beautiful—dangerous but beautiful.
My eyes were pulled away from them when I felt steam on my face. It was a blue dragon." You are beautiful," I mumbled to myself. The dragon looked at me in confusion, tilting its head.I giggled at how funny it looked—a giant dragon tilting its head in confusion. I, to bella, I looked crazy laughing at a dragon, but then again, i kind of am.
It puffed more smoke onto me before flying away. I didn't listen to what xaden said next as I spaced out my hands, running through Bella's curls. We were taken to the garrison to sleep. My bed was in the middle of Violet on my right, bella on my left, and Rihanna on the bed after Violet. Once my head hit the pillow, I fell asleep thinking about the blue dragon.
