The park was nice. It was peaceful. The air was clean. The rustling of the fallen leaves seemed to calm me down. It was evening so the sky had a orangey glow on it. I was standing under a huge tree. People were walking their dogs, children playing here and there and Hot dogs and Ice Cream stands scattered everywhere. The whole day, we had talked about the most random things.
Oliver had told me about his family. From the way he talks about his father, I realised that he loves his father a lot. He told me silly childhood memories. We ate lunch at a small bistro named 'Berry'. The food there was really good. Spending my time with Oliver, I have come to realise that Oliver is a good person from the heart. He even helped an old woman just an hour ago, carrying her shopping bags to her car.
Currently, Oliver was buying Hotdogs for us. We had finished the milkshakes but we were still hungry.
"Holy Shit! I'm sorry but I think we may have to leave the country." Oliver's hands fell on my wrist as he pulled me down the pavement, making me run along with him. My senses became cautious immediately at the abrupt change of the mood.
"What?" I asked, startled. "What happened?"
"I got involved with bad people." He said, looking behind me before continuing to run with fear in his eyes. My heartbeat sky-rocketed and I held his hand tighter as we ran.
"The Puppy Mafia!" He yelled and looked behind me. I turned around to find a whole group of puppies chasing us. They seemed angry but they were cute at the same time. Did I ever mention that I am scared of dogs? Well, now I am scared of puppies too.
"What did you do Oliver?" I asked, trying to stifle my laughter at the whole situation. It only made me laugh more at Oliver's serious expression.
"I accidentally stepped on their tails." He shouted and his eyes searched around, looking for something. Suddenly, something tugged on my heels and I looked behind to see one puppy biting the hem of my pants.
"Ahhh! Oliver! It's biting me. Help!" I shouted, trying to shake the puppy off as I ran faster. I looked up to see that the puppy were very near our feet. Fear coursed through my veins as my eyes widened. Sweat droplets trickled down my forehead. "Oh my god! Oliver! Carry me!"
It only took him a second, before he scooped down and carried me onto his arms. I clung to him, looking over his shoulder for any sign of those evil puppies. "Run! Faster! They are catching up!"
It's only then I realised that the whole park was looking at us with amusement and pity. Some of them even had their camcorders out, recording the situation.
"Found a place we can hide." Oliver breathed out and suddenly he jumped. Soon, he was running down a wooden deck, leading to the small cruises and boats floating on the lake. He was climbing up the staircase of one of the small cruise ship which looked fabulous.
"You can't just get in one of the ships." I said.
"It's mine." Oliver said and my eyes widened in surprise. I looked behind to see the puppy mafia was standing at the edge of the park, barking at us.
Oliver stopped once we reached the floor of the ship. He placed me on one of the tables but didn't let go of me in whole. He stood between my legs, his hands resting on either side of my thighs as he panted. I looked at him, feeling a little guilty that I had made him carry me.
He looked up, feeling a little normal, but his face was still a little flushed. Both of us stared at each other, when I bursted laughing. He smiled, before joining in on the laughter. Both of us laughed heavily at the whole situation.
A bark made us both turn towards the park. There were still one puppy barking at us.
"Fuck you puppy!" Oliver flipped the puppy off and it ran away. I laughed harder. I laughed like I had never laughed before. Suddenly, strong arms circled my body and I squealed, when I realised I was back in Oliver's arms again.
Our laughter sub-sided and he looked down at me. I circled my hand around his neck, waiting for him to say something.
"Told you I would keep you safe." He winked.
"From puppies?"
"Whatever."
I laughed and his cheeks flushed red with embarrasment. I laughed even harder, loving the fact that he is embarrased. It's my first time I have ever seen him in this state. He smirked at me before holding me closer.
"Put me down." I pointed my finger at him.
"No." He smirked and winked at me, before walking towards the edge of the floating boat.
"Put me down now." I tried again, not really wanting to get down from his arms.
"Ok." He said and suddenly moved me over the edge of the boat, his hands holding me out. I realised that he was holding me above the water. I looked at the water below me and fear took over my body. Flashes of my past experienes with water coursed through my mind and I panicked. I squealed in fear. Reaching for his neck, I clung to him like a Koala. He chuckled.
"That was not funny." By my serious tone, he realised that he had done something wrong and immediately walked over to the table, putting me down.
"What is it? Tell m—" His comforting voice got cut off by a raspy one.
"Sir." A voice called from behind. Oliver looked behind me. "Johnny."
"Do you need me Sir? I can drive the boat." He said and Oliver looked at me for the answer. I nodded my head, pursing my lips, trying to remove all the past memories from my mind. Oliver agreed to John's offer after my consent and Johnny quickly got on board.
Oliver looked back at me. "You can tell me anything Cupcake." He rubbed my hands, assuringly. "I'm sorry."
I pursed my lips, looking up at him and gave him a smile. "Where are we going?" I asked and Oliver noticed that I was changing the topic but decided to go along with me.
"Anywhere you want." He whispered, like a promise.
