"It feels weird," I said, touching my forehead before looking at her. She was sitting on the hammock and I was sitting cross-legged on the bed facing her. "I'm not having a hangover."
I stood up from the bed, walked over to the table and fetched myself a glass of water. We have been talking for the past few hours. None of us felt sleepy and I was sure it was two in the morning by now.
"I gave you painkillers." She said, sighing and I narrowed my eyes at her. Once again, she captured my heart, proving again and again just how much we were meant to be. I loved the fact that she took care of me. I could die happy.
"What would I do without you?" I walked over to her and I could see her body visibly tensing as I placed myself in between her legs. The constant need to touch her almost drove me crazy. There was a naughty glint dancing in her eyes and a shy smile stretching her perfectly-shaped lips. A faint tint of red was painted on her cheeks and I wanted to make them go even redder. Suddenly, she looked up and met my eyes, making my heart beat fast.
She makes me feel so alive.
"Probably die." Her lips curved into a teasing smile and I inched closer towards her, making her face go a brilliant shade of red. "Of course, I would," I said, meaning it and I could see her masking her emotions once again. She looked down, fiddling with her fingers and avoided my eye contact. I wanted her to be open to me. I wanted her to feel comfortable around me. I furrowed my eyebrows and reached for her hands, intertwining them with mine.
"Cupcake," I whispered and she looked up at me. I rested my forehead against hers and found myself in that happy place again.
Heaven.
That was the only way to describe it. I have found my new home, in her and it just feels so right. It was a starry night. The sound of the waves crashing against each other filled the atmosphere with comfortable silence.
"Why are you afraid of the water?" I asked, and she closed her eyes immediately, backing away slightly and her body tensed under my touch. Alarmed, I pulled her back to me in an instant. It seemed like she was expecting that question from me. It was as if she knew what was running through my mind.
"Oliver..." She said softly, making my heartstrings pull at the weak sound of her voice. "I'm sorry. I can't." My heart sank but I didn't show it. She needs time. I will give her all the time in the world.
"Oliver." She looked up, her eyes sparkling for a moment. "What am I to you?"
"You are every reason, every hope, and every dream I ever had." My answer was immediate. Her cheeks went red as she smiled shyly. I loved making her feel this way. I wanted her to feel this way. To feel safe and happy with me. I somehow felt like she needed that feeling. Like she matters. Because sometimes I can see right through her broken smile and it pains my heart to see that.
"What do I remind you of?" She asked genuinely and curiously. I held her chin, tilting her head up to make her look at me.
"You remind me of the best things in life Cupcake," I whispered to her and she smiled once again, and this time her gaze fell on my lips. My body tensed when she did that and I wanted nothing else but to taste her lips, memorise the way they move against my lips.
I stayed in my position, waiting for her to lean closer towards me and claim me. I wanted her to do everything for me. Her soft hands circled my neck, pulling me closer and I felt my heart beating like a machine gun against my rib cage. She caressed my neck lovingly and I felt trapped in this wonderful feeling she was making me feel.
"Kiss me Cupcake," I whispered and her breath hitched as she inched closer. She closed her eyes. Her scent reached my nose, drawing me closer towards her. Our lips brushed against one another like a feather and I felt sparks flying everywhere through my body. My heartbeat skyrocketed, going beyond the world.
I felt those three magical words tumbling out of my throat and reaching the tip of my tongue before I could even realise it. My lips parted, sucking in a huge breath and for a moment the entire world became silent as I held her hips. It was only me and her alive in the world. The thrum of our beating hearts and our deep breaths were the only things that could be heard. My voice was crystal clear as I breathed those words out.
"I love you."
She crashed her lips against mine and my heart exploded in my chest as I pulled her closer, making her wrap her legs around my torso. I wanted to remember each moment of this.
Every move.
Every breath.
Every caress.
Every push.
Every pull.
Every sound.
Every tilt.
Every shiver.
She did some kind of magic that made my body feel things I have never felt before. Her hands pulled on my hair slightly as I squeezed her hips, making her lips part. The way her small hands ran through my hair made me feel euphoric. The kiss was chaotic and passionate. Wild like the sea. Her lips tasted like a dream. I have never been kissed this way before. I have never had this kind of kiss before.
It was the kind of kiss that made me realise that I was never so happy in my whole life.
I have heard of people saying that kisses felt like fireworks. But the way her lips felt against mine set my whole heart on fire.
I love her.
I pulled away, and couldn't resist the urge to grin goofily at the magical kiss we had just shared. Her lips were red, her cheeks were red and her blonde hair was dishevelled and yet she looked like a goddess. There was a huge grin stretching her lips as well and I held onto her cheek, feeling happiness explode inside of me. I felt like I had just been burned and I wanted to burn more—to drown in this enticing fire.
"I love you," I said again and I could see her smile widen. Her eyes glistened like she was teary. "Take care of my heart. I know you will." She bit her lips and nodded her head slightly. She seemed paralysed like she didn't even know who she was anymore. I felt proud of how I made her feel. Her gaze fell on my lips once again and my breath hitched.
I'm the luckiest guy in this entire universe.
"I love you," I whispered once again, wanting her to know how much I meant it. "With my soul," I added. "I look at you and I'm home. I see nothing worse than to be without you because, with you, my soul feels complete. You make me happy in a way no one else can. I—"
"Just kiss me, Oliver." She breathed out, a tear rolling down her left eye and that was enough for me. Our lips connected once again as I wiped the rolling tear away from her cheek with the stroke of my thumb.
