As with many fresh new projects I begin, I was never really supposed to write this. But alas, fate aligned itself, the vibes hit right, and some admittedly influential friends said it was a good idea, so here I am.
I should probably learn how to focus one of these days.
In fairness, Against The Wind has been a little while in the works. The idea of dust-themed magic has been floating around my brain for some time, but it didn't really attach to anything solid until I doodled a couple of vague character designs last summer. Those designs became Corvin and Raya, and I've been dipping my toe in and out of their story ever since, but only recently got into a proper rhythm with writing it. Nevertheless, I'm very excited to share :D
I've also wanted to write something in a desert setting for a while, so I suppose this is the result of that. And I wanted to play around with funky animalistic character design. And um *checks notes* the usual Pup mess of cranked-up anxiety and broken relationships. It's gonna be fun!!
An extra note to say that I've decided to split my chonky chapters into more bitesize chunks—mostly falling within the 1-2k window—to make them more digestible when read on a screen. I'm also aiming for an update every Friday. This means I feed you less words per week, but it also decreases the pressure on me to create backlog (I'm riding the university struggle bus rn) and means I'm very unlikely to miss an update. You'll get to devour it all eventually, don't worry. Consistency makes me feel cool.
Without further ado, I guess we best dive into story things! Oh, one more thing: credit to ToWolfKin for my absolutely beautiful illustrated cover. Go look at it right now, everyone. I'm in love.
