Is it Tara or Fenty? Regina couldn't decide on which brand gave her the best contour for her high cheekbones. She shuffled between the two products in a manner that set George off.
"You should've done that at home, not spreading brown particles on my expensive leather. This limo costs a fortune to maintain."
"Sorry Daddy, it's just a little touch-up," she pleaded while holding up a portable mirror, gazing at her finely beaten face contemplating what next to apply to it. "I have to look exceptional today, can't risk not turning heads when I walk in. You know that's what I live for." She threw him a charming smile but it didn't have the same effect on him as it usually did.
George Hobart was infuriated by the whole event, the turnout of things, and most especially the fact that his daughter wasn't as bothered about their life as he was.
"And how has that changed your status with Theodore Newman? You should've persuaded him more Gina, or even trapped him somehow, somewhere... I don't know just_" he clenched his fist. "We can't even afford the latest models any longer." He muttered referring to the black Limo they were riding in on their way to the Brick mansion.
"I'm trying Daddy."
"Are you?... because the last time I checked you haven't gotten the man to as much see you for who you are not to even agree to marry you. Why do you do that to yourself, Gina?..."
There was a pause, George watching his daughter who watched the driver pull the barriers up, allowing them some privacy. His eyes filled up with emotions as he spoke softly. "You're my only child, a sweet gorgeous, and powerful woman who could snag the fiercest of them all but let herself be thrown around by one man. What is it that you can't do to get Theodore to want you?!"
"I have Daddy!" She snapped. "I'm trying my best, every day and every damn hour I'm plotting ways to get that man to be mine, it's exhausting Dad... trust me when I say it is."
"You don't have to do all that work dear just get pregnant for the damn geezer!"
"Do you think I haven't tried?" She spared him her most bitchy look, somewhat made more effective by the mascara lined above her eyelids. "Gosh! That man had a vasectomy, I swear!"
"A what?!"
"A vasectomy, it's a surgical procedure where the_"
"I know what a vasectomy is Gina, I'm just shocked that any man would agree to have their bollock cut off."
"Not that, it's the... uh the inside tubes of er_" Regina was mortified, she wasn't sure how to explain the procedure to her father without mentioning the male organs involved.
"I don't care what it is they cut off dear, I just don't understand why he would go about such horrible stuff. Has the new wave of matriarchy infected him as well?"
Regina chuckled at George's disgusted expression. "Theo would be the last person to believe such movement, though it's something I live for," she paused for a thought. "I don't see how both of us fit." She muttered that last part and a streak of blush spread through her pale cheeks.
George Hobart watched her lovelorn daughter with a bit of sadness. She was everything he wished to ever have in a child, he was a proud father who always kept his head high with her in gatherings. She was a force.
He somewhat resented Theodore for not acquiescing to her charms. "My company," he said through the silence as the car swerved down a steep slope. "There's nothing left of it Gina, and I'm scared... so, scared that I might leave you with nothing by the time it's over. I wouldn't want that." He held her hands and stared into the depths of her eyes.
