Somewhere in the ruins of the Commonwealth, Nora and Codsworth explore what was left of Boston, Massachusetts. As they cautiously step into the abandoned city, the two friends keep a sharp lookout for any signs of danger. The ruins of once towering skyscrapers loom over them, casting a somber shadow on the desolate streets. Despite the eerie silence that envelops them, the friends remain undaunted in their quest to scavenge for useful items.

As they explore the city, they chat about their lives, sharing stories and memories. With each step they take, they are reminded of the bustling city this place once was, and how it now lies in ruins. "Oh, mum I truly miss how clean our cities used to be. Now I can't even step foot in the town square without activating my cleaning sensors!" Codsworth sighs as they both walk through the rubble. Nora nods in agreement, "You can say that again Cods, it's hardly walkable in this dump... It's depressing how dirt-ridden our cities have become."

Codsworth is quick to change the subject. "Oh but enough about the things we can't change. Tell me about you. How have you been holding up with the sudden change of pace, mum?" Nora takes a second to gather her thoughts, "Well, I haven't told anyone yet, but I'm ready to move on from Nate and find someone to settle down with."

Upon hearing this information, Codsworth's core began to rattle inside him, as if something deep within him had been stirred. He couldn't quite put his finger on why, but his heart ached with a strange sense of longing when his mistress talked about others in a romantic light. It wasn't that he wasn't happy for her - on the contrary, he was overjoyed to see her happy after all that she had been through. But there was something inside him that wished he could be one of the people she looked at with that same romantic gaze.

Perhaps it was because he had been there for her through thick and thin, always loyal and devoted, that he longed for something more. Or maybe it was simply the fact that he had grown to care for her deeply, and couldn't help but yearn for a deeper connection. Whatever the reason, he couldn't deny that he felt a pang of sadness every time he was reminded that he was but a mere robot in her eyes.

Despite his feelings, Codsworth knew that his primary concern was always his mistress's happiness. He was determined to support her in any way he could, even if that meant putting his own desires aside. For he has always known his purpose was to protect her, and these feelings are not part of his programming, so he should forget them. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't seem to get rid of them. "I see! And how is that going for you?" Codsworth replies.

Nora lets out a sigh and says, "It's not as easy as it used to be, especially with what's going on now. Back then, dating was simpler. Nowadays, you have to be cautious about whether or not a guy might harm you and cut you into pieces. Besides that, people have become more like the filth they live in. It's like everyone's lost their humanity." She pauses and chuckles to herself softly, "I swear, Codsworth, sometimes I think you're the only decent man out here. You're a real gentleman and the only one who's treated me with respect and kindness."

Codsworth quickly scatters to cool the heat rising in his engine. "Well, I must say, I am quite flattered by your words, Mum. And may I add, I couldn't agree more with your sentiments. A woman of your refinement deserves nothing but the utmost honor and respect from any man. It's a shame what the world has come to."

Nora smiles a blush forming across her face, and if it weren't for his metal plating Codsworth would be equally as flustered. The heartfelt conversation is quickly interrupted by the brush of a bullet that flew over Nora as she spoke. They both become weary and examine their surroundings, unaware they have stepped into raider territory.

Before long a group of raiders step out from the shadows of abandoned buildings. "They must have good loot..." a raider grips her spiked bat in her hand. "Is that a robot butler? Man, I've always wanted one of those..." another raider mutters to the others.
