Codsworth follows right by your side, sometimes even ahead of you scouting for danger. He always insists it's his duty to protect you. You always thought it was just his Mister Handy programming kicking in, but ever since he became a synth you realize it was far from that. And now with his pale, synthetic skin, and soft hazel eyes- the words that came out of those rose-colored lips, even if they were the same words, it had a different effect on you than it did before.

The lights grew dim, as you both ventured deeper into the underground railway. Carefully you watch your step, so as not to activate a pulse mine. You follow your pip-boy's direction but are forced to stop by the sound of approaching voices. Tightly you grab Codsworth's arm and pull him down. into a crouching position, he turns to face you, only to see you hold a finger to your lips.

Turning your pip-boy off, you both hide in plain sight, hoping the shadows are dark enough to disguise you. Two Raiders pass right in front of your nose, "I swear I heard something..." he huffs. The other raider just nudges him on the shoulder, "You've gotta stop taking so many chems, man. They're no good for you."

The first Raider squints into the darkness, his eyes narrowing as he scans the area. "Shut up, I know what I heard," he growls, his hand moving to the grip of his weapon.

You hold your breath, feeling Codsworth tense beside you. The Raider takes a step closer, his gaze fixed on the shadow where you and Codsworth are hiding. He hesitates, then suddenly swings his flashlight toward you. The beam of light cuts through the darkness, catching the faint glint of your armor.

"There!" the Raider shouts, raising his gun. The other Raider snaps to attention, leveling his weapon in your direction.

"Mother fu—" the Raider snarls, clutching his fist in pain as he charges at Codsworth. But before he can close the distance, your leg shoots out in a powerful kick, sending him stumbling backward. Quickly you fire, the gunshot echoing through the tunnel.

The Raider crumples to the ground, unconscious.

"Close one," you mutter, breathless, as you lower your weapon.

"Grah!" The second Raider swings a bat at you, the impact sending a jolt of pain down your arm. Adrenaline surges through your veins as you grit your teeth, locking the bat in a tight grip, and yank it from his hands. With a swift, forceful motion, you swing the bat, striking him hard across the head. He collapses, his body hitting the ground with a thud.

Codsworth watches in amazement, his gun nearly slipping from his grasp. When you turn to face him, he quickly averts his gaze, flustered. "You... you handle yourself well," he stammers, clearing his throat.

You look back down at your hands, still trembling from the adrenaline. Codsworth's compliment lingers in the air, and you force a small smile as you nod in acknowledgment. "Thanks," you say quietly, trying to sound grateful. Yet you feel doubt gnawing at you deep down. The words echo in your mind, He thinks I'm tough. You scoff inwardly at the notion. He doesn't know what he's talking about. I'm not strong or capable—I just get lucky, that's all...

But there's no time to dwell on it now. Pushing those thoughts aside, you force yourself to focus on the mission. You can't let Codsworth down, even if you don't believe you're as strong as he thinks you are.

"Come on, let's keep going," you say, signaling Codsworth to follow as you continue down the tunnel. The path suddenly comes to a dead end, and you frown at your Pip-Boy. "Weird... it says it should be here..." you mutter, glancing back at Codsworth. That's when you spot movement behind him.
