I pushed and pushed...
Eddie held onto my hand, "You're doing great babe."
"One more push, I can see the head." Doctor Brenner said he was at the bottom of the bed ready to grab the baby.
"It hurts so much." I cried. I was in so much pain, I didn't have a chance to get the epidural. The baby was ready to come out.
"I know baby." Eddie said wiping my hair away from my face, "You're doing great though, just one more push."
I pushed harder and within a few seconds, I felt the baby slide right out and into Dr. Brenner's arm. He held onto the baby and had the nurse come over to clean the baby up.
"Congratulations you two, it's a boy." Doctor Brenner said.
"Really?" I asked, trying to sit up better so I could see my baby boy.
"We're going to clean him up and weigh him." Doctor Brenner walked over to the corner of the room where the nurse was clearing out the baby's nose and mouth from all the amniotic fluid he ingested.
"He's a little grey." I heard the nurse say to Doctor Brenner. She was trying to whisper but was doing a shitty job.
I tried sitting up again, worried about my baby. Eddie tried to calm me down, all I wanted was my baby. He wasn't even crying when he came out, and I just knew there was something wrong. Doctor Brenner looked at us from over his shoulder and then whispered something to the nurse.
"Is he okay?" Eddie asked, he was just as concerned as I was.
"He's okay, just a little grey, but rest assured he is okay. Just have to clear out those lungs of his."
"What happened?" I asked, on the verge of tears.
"It's okay Mrs. Munson." Doctor Brenner said patting at my feet. "I promise he is okay."
I wasn't used to hearing being called Mrs. Munson, Eddie and I weren't even married yet. The doctor knew that too but he still called me Mrs. Munson.
"Get some rest, we'll get him back soon." The nurse said as she carried my baby out of the room.
"I want my baby." I said, tears rolling down my cheeks, "Eddie make them bring him back. I want him in here with me."
"Baby," Eddie held me in his arms, he was trying not to cry. "Let them do what they have to do. He will be back."
"No," I tried to get out of his arms. "They need to give him back." I tried to get out of bed, but it wasn't a good idea since I just delivered a baby. I was bleeding all over the bed.
"Mrs. Munson," Doctor Brenner approached the bed and got me to lie down. "We'll have to stitch you up, the baby tore you open."
"I don't care about that damn it,"
"(Y/N), it's okay," Eddie said.
"I insist Mrs. Munson, you need to rest. The baby is okay, he'll be back."
That's all they kept saying, they weren't telling me anything. Was he going to survive? Was he going to come back? Is my baby dying? All these thoughts ran through my head and I couldn't keep the tears at bay any longer. Eddie tried to calm down as the doctor was trying to stitch me up.
"Baby, you have to stop crying, Doctor Brenner is trying to close you up, if you keep shaking he won't be able to."
"I think I have something for her." Doctor Brenner called in another nurse who walked in with a needle, I wasn't sure what the hell was in it, but the minute the needle was inserted in my arm everything went dark.
