Her Name Was Loneliness

Her name was loneliness and she kept me company,
When from this life I wish to be free.
I stand alone, embraced by solitude,
The heart against the mind and world, an endless feud.

Her name was loneliness and she was never far behind,
A break from her was becoming hard to find.
She wraps herself around my neck, tight, never loose.
What once was a necklace has now become a noose.

Her name was loneliness and she stuck to me like glue,
Despite my pleas, it seemed that there was nothing I could do.
She has consumed me,
And will never again leave my company.
