Poison

I'm addicted to you,
But there's poison to your touch.
The high I feel is nothing
Compared to the damage that's been done.

I thought I was done,
Last time I made it out alive.
But now you've come back,
And I'm saying "one more time."

The scars that you left
Will never go away.
They serve as reminders
That I know you'll never stay.

The words were on my tongue,
And you said you could draw them out.
They're not what you were expecting,
But I say them without a doubt.

They said to stay away from poets,
They'll twist with your mind.
But how could I abandon
One of my own kind?

But darling, you have to learn
The rumors, they're all true.
The guy you think is the one?
He's leaving without you.
