ˏˋ°•*⁀➷pip let out an angry and devastated scream, a few tears threatening to spill from her eyes as she banged her fists on the cool metal door.
"PERCY!" she yelled out, throwing all her body weight onto the door. she continued to scream and bang on the door, as annabeth fought to drag her down the stairs. the girl wrapped her arms around pip's torso and arms gently pulling her away from the door.
on the other side, percy leaned weakly against the door, tears of his own welling up in his eyes.
"poseidon's never helped me before, he wasn't going to start now," percy's voice caught in his throat as he heard pip's yelling. "i never would have made it to hades, but you can. and now you will."
"NO!" pip tried to squirm out of annabeth's grasp, wriggling and fighting as annabeth calmly and softly spoke to her, "c'mon pip, we gotta go, he'll be okay."
at this point, grover had joined in in pulling the heartbroken girl away from the door. finally, with one last bang on the door, pip let herself be dragged away, finally letting her tears spill as the door went out of her sight.
her body fell limp as grover and annabeth slung her arms around their shoulders, helping her out into the courtyard in front of the arch. the trio made their way around the back near the boardwalk, pip's watery eyes darting around the grassy area, watching as tourists huddled together and witnesses spoke to officers in uniform.
pip lifted her gaze to the top of the arch, and let out a choked cry. there, dangling by one hand from a opening in the arch, was percy. he was slipping, struggling to hold on. his green flannel shirt flapped in the wind, as people gasped and shouted, noticing the boy on the edge of death. all of a sudden, the boy let go, free falling through the air.
pip covered her mouth with her hands, muffling a pained sob. she watched as he continued to fall, as a hush fell over the crowd. from the river beside them, shot up a large sprout of water, which twisted its was through the air, catching percy.
"they're looking at us," grover voice cut through the silence.
"yeah, so we should probably get outta here, don't you think?" annabeth responded, watching the tourists peer at them, majority of them watched pip, who was currently kicking up patches of dirt in anger as she tried to hide her tears.
"dude, they're looking right at us," pip followed grover's gaze, looking wearily over at the three old ladies, the two in the middle knitting a huge sock each, while the one in the middle held the ball of red yarn. the fates.
"what?" annabeth finally saw the fates, and her face froze.
"let's go... let's go find percy," pip said, clearing her throat and wiping away her tears.
"pip..."
"he's alive. i know it."
the three made their way over to the boardwalk, calling out his name. pip dropped her hands from her mouth, then turned around. what she saw in front of her made her freeze in her place. percy pulled himself up over the edge of the boardwalk railing, standing a dozen feet away from the group. pip said nothing, and made her way over to him, her eyes scanning him up and down, assuring herself he was really there.
"hi," he waved awkwardly at pip. "look, i'm sorry about shoving you in the stairwell, even hearing myself say that sounds really bad, but i just- i knew you'd never agree, and there wasn't enough time-"
percy was cut off by pip throwing her arms around him, engulfing him in a huge hug. she then pulled away and gave him a shove, "that's for making us think you died."
