"Y/N!" The barista called out signalling that my drink.
Catching my attention, I turned towards the counter accidentally making eye contact with the barista. I quickly looked away and approached the counter in a fairly slow manner, "Um that's me," I whispered.
The barista turning her attention to me, "Oh okay, here you go" she said handing me my drink. I grabbed it and took a few steps away, bowed and started walking towards the door of the cafe.
"Have a nice day" She shouted which only hastened my steps as to not draw much attention to myself. I turned back and smiled faintly so I didn't appear rude and gave a small wave before opening the door of the cafe.
Before I stepped out, my attention was drawn to the television on the wall when I heard it advertise a new limited time drink. "Hm...I'll have to try it next time" I mumbled to myself quietly before finally stepping out of the cafe.
I started to walk away from the cafe and back to my house. The sun was blazing which only made me want to go home faster since I hated being out, especially in the sun. It was dreadful. I sighed before I was about to take a sip of my favorite drink from that place. I had a small smile before I held the drink up to my mouth and start drinking. That was until....
A large white dog started running passed me.
I took my mouth off the straw before I even took a sip to look back as it ran behind me away. "Hm?" I had the feeling I should go after it to try and stop it, but I have absolutely zero athletic abilities so if I tried to run, especially in this heat, I'd pass out on the spot. I decided to turn away from it and hope someone else would try and stop it.
It wouldn't be long until my wish would be granted.
"Samo-chan wait up!"
As I turned to look up to see where I was walking-
*WHAM*
My vision went black for a few seconds and I felt my body grow wet and cold. As I opened my eyes, I would soon find out why. I opened my eyes finding myself wearing my drink and an empty cup lying on the floor next to me, and when I looked in front of me, I saw a girl, with fairly long brown hair with one side which appeared to be tied into a braid, also on the floor, but not drenched, and clutching her head. "Ow ow ow, " She softly cried out. After a few seconds, she found her way up and when she opened her eyes seeing the sight in front of her, her eyes turned to that of horror.
"Oh my! I'm so sorry!" She loudly exclaimed bowing deeply.
"I-it's fine!" I quietly shouted so she wouldn't yell and draw any unneeded attention. She quickly stuck her hand out signalling me to grab it to which I did. I then found myself starting to feel slightly sticky from the contents of the drink which contained caramel adding to the stickiness. A slight face of disgust appeared on my face looking down at my clothes feeling the clothes on my body stiffen and making any sudden movements more and more uncomfortable. I sighed and looked up at her to which she apologized again bowing. "I-I said i-it's okay" I stuttered hoping to reassure her, and also to prevent any attention, at least more than there already was.
I leaned down to grab my now empty cup from the floor. She took one look at the cup and then at me with a look of regret. "I should've looked where I was going" She said. "No it's my fault, I should've looked where I was going, but that dog caught me off guard." I replied in a faint whisper. It seemed that the sudden mention of the dog sparked something in her. "Oh right!" She suddenly exclaimed remembering the reason she was running in the first place. "Samo-chan!" She bowed once again, "Sorry again, I promise to make it up to you!" She said before taking off again towards what seemed to be her dog named, "Samo-chan." "Y-you don't need to..." I whispered onto deaf ears as she was already a few blocks down. I sighed softly before awkwardly walking back to my house.
I slowly entered my house and immediately entered the shower discarding my sticky clothes. After that I sat at my desk to finish up some school work and headed to bed feeling kinda empty without being able to taste that drink today. As I thought about it, I couldn't help but think about that incident. That girl was essentially ingrained in my head...but why? I decided to not think about it and go to sleep for the night.
The next day I found myself back outside, borderline passing out from the blazing heat of summer, since I was given the task of returning something for my father, which I also assumed was with the ulterior motive of building my social skills...sigh.
As I walked through the busy streets of Shibuya, I found myself passing the same cafe where, about 12 hours ago, I first encountered the girl.
And almost as if the universe heard me, I looked up in front of me, and was face to face with that familiar face. "Ah-" My breath suddenly caught in my throat at her sudden appearance.
"It's you!" She exclaimed. "I'm sorry about yesterday, I was walking my dog and he saw a squirrel and ran after it and his leash slipped out from my hand." She said apologetically. "L-like I said, it's okay, I'm glad to hear that you managed to catch your dog though," I said. She smiled brightly almost as blinding as the sun, but without the heat. "Oh right! I have to make it up to you!" "Ah- y-you really don't like I said, it's oka-" "How about a drink on me!" She exclaimed causing my words to come to a halt. It was kind of hard to turn down a free drink, especially after hearing about the news limited one which I really wanted to try yesterday. After deciding, I hesitantly nodded to which she was delighted. "Yay!" She led me back to the cafe, and I followed seemingly forgetting about my initial reason for being out in the first place.
As we entered, we were met with the familiar scent of coffee and pastries filling the building. She quickly approached the counter, and to our luck, there was no line. She got to the counter and I slowly followed. "Which one do you want?" She asked turning to me with a smile. "Uh...um, I'll get the..." I pointed to the large sign promoting the new drink. "Oh okay!" She quickly placed the order for our drinks and we sat down at a nearby table. "This place is nice, I never been here yet" She said being the one initiating a conversation, something I wasn't great at. "Uh, y-yea, it's nice"
Silence
Not wanting this hangout to be awkward, I decided to try initiating the conversation this time, something I always struggled with. "U-uh, so about your dog-" Before I could continue, "Oh, Samo-chan?! He's an amazing dog, though, he can be a bit of a hassle since he loves chasing random things, but he's the best!" "That's nice, do you have any other pets?" I asked hoping to keep the conversation alive.
After a few minutes of pet-talk, we were suddenly interrupted by the waiter, "Here you go." He said setting our drinks down. Our eyes were immediately drawn to the drinks in front of us. I was pretty excited to try this drink since it looked as good as the picture portrayed it as. Without wasting a second, we both quickly started drinking them. "Delicious!" She exclaimed. I nodded "Yea, it is" I said, in a less quiet tone. We quickly finished our drinks and all that was left to do was leave.
As we stepped outside, we were once again met with the blazing sun, but this time it wasn't as bad, "Thanks again f-for today." I said. "Of course, it was fun hanging out with you." She replied. I faintly smiled "Well, it was nice meeting you, uh..." "Minori!" She exclaimed, "And you?"
"Y/N." She nodded, "Well, it was nice meeting you too Y/N, we should hang out another time," she said brightly" I gave a faint smile and nodded. We both bid each other farewell and went our separate ways. "Minori..." I said to myself as I finally arrived at my doorstep to my house.I stepped back inside my house and was greeted by my father. "So, did you return the stuff?" I froze looking at the bag I was subconsciously holding. "Uh-"
"It's okay, you can try again tomorrow" He smiled.
"Okay" I sighed putting the bag down on the table, then a slip of paper flew out. I picked it up and it had a number with a name following it. I read it with a smile.
"Minori Hanasato"
A/N: Sorry this took a while, school has been holding me up, but I'm finally free, for now at least. Anyways, this was requested by mizuaru, if there's any criticism, please let me know.
