Felix's POV
I nervously tapped my feet on the ground, waiting for the arrival of Prince Han Jisung, my sweetheart, and... Yang Jeongin, the prince whom I can't stand. I wanted nothing to do with him, yet the other confessed that he likes me. How unfair life is...
I waited for a few more minutes until a voice was heard from outside the room.
"Felix, we're here!" Prince Han stepped in cheerfully, Prince Yang entering behind him with his lips curled up in his signature grin.
What a dullard. I thought.
My eyes followed him as he strutted across the room and sat right next to me, while Han admired and gasped at the portrait of me that was now hanged carefully on the wall.
I couldn't help but smile at him. Not for long, though, because moments later, I felt someone's hand on my arm.
"Thank you for inviting me, Felix... I'm so glad to be here." Yang expressed himself in his usual flirty voice, at which I showed my displeasure.
He only kept staring at me after that, so I got up to chat with Han. Good for me, he did not follow, just sat on the couch while studying us.
"Do I look even better in the portrait?" I asked with a chuckle.
"The portrait is exact, very impressive." He lowered his eyes even more. "Hwang Hyunjin... This man has gifted hands." He stated while he studied the artist's signature.
"You're right..." I felt my heart drop, not sure why. Was I expecting a compliment?.. How foolish of you, Lee Felix. My thoughts rang in my mind, and I zoned out.
That is why I did not notice when Yang had stepped behind me.
"Are you alright there?" He whispered, making me snap my head at him.
"Why wouldn't I be?" I scowled, stepping away from him.
He continued staring, at my eyes, down to my lips for split second before bringing them back up and looking away.
I looked back in front too. Why was my face feeling hot, though...? I'm just embarrassed, right...
"I'm taking you away, you're definitely not doing well." He mumbled next to my ear, grasping my hand.
"What? No-" I opened my mouth to protest, but, too late...
"Ji, Felix is taking me to the garden. Catch up later." He turned to Han and said quickly.
"Ah. OK!" Han showed him a raised thumb and next thing I knew, he was dragging me out of the room.
I pulled my hand away after we had reached quite far from where we were, and clenched my jaw in annoyance.
"What in the heavens is wrong with you!" I was about to land a hit upon the bonehead in front of me when he started laughing like he had seen or heard something utterly hilarious.
He then leaned in close. Even closer.
My eyes fluttered shut on instinct. I just stood there with my eyes closed like I was waiting for him to do something.
I cracked my gaze open when I felt a touch on my left cheek. He was looking down at me with a hint of concern in his eyes.
Oh. His slender eyes are kind of beautiful. A little, though.
"Your face is red... Do you want to go rest?" He murmurs, his gaze still focused on me.
"I am fine," I rest my palms on my cheeks, after slapping his hand away.
"How much more do you need to lie to me? You think I don't notice it?" He spoke with his eyebrows knitted together.
"Stop it. You know nothing," I turned away from him. "Now get away from me. Someone will get the wrong idea."
He exhaled deeply. I don't know why, but I felt the urge to ask him, to know the reason he has been doing all this to me. It is confusing, because I do not like him at all. If there's anything I have always felt for him, it's irritation. Then, why...
"You're testing me too much," He seemed angry. Not like I care, though. "And there's nobody around here. Atleast I don't see-"
"Whatever," I rumbled. "Just stop meddling."
I heard nothing from his side so I finally faced him. That's when he stepped a little too close and slammed his hand on the wall behind me.
"Stop acting like that first, or else..." He locked his eyes with mine. "I can't help but meddle."
"Like what exactly?" I tried hard not to visibly gulp. He was too close.
"When you're with Han, you try so hard to hide your emotions. It hurts me..." His gaze softens. "You should know by now, I told you how much I like-"
"Stop. Stop, I know, I understand." I cut him off.
"You do?.." I notice how his lips form a pout.
"...Yang. I- I need to think it through. You cannot just bombard me with it like this, it's... puzzling. Give me some time... please." I murmer my words out.
His eyes widened for a while before he puts on a bright smile and nods.
"That's good enough for me." I stared at his dimples which were close enough for me to look at clearly. He... he has a nice smile, now that he wasn't smirking or grinning like an idiot.
He then patted my shoulder and walked towards the palace garden, while I caught sight of his back.
I did not realize I was staring until he disappeared among the long grass and bushes.
Maybe I should really think about it. Seriously.
