Gypsy
"Alright. I think that's all of it." Elias announced as he closed the trunk to Harry's car. If I had my own car we would've taken it. I felt bad for running up the miles on his car but he insisted. Usually when I drove to Arizona I just used a rental.
I made my way around the band and hugged everyone. "I'm gonna miss my fuck buddy." Grace sighed. Luckily I don't think anyone heard her except me.
I busted out laughing, mostly out of shock. "Grace! Firstly, I'm only gonna be gone for four days. Second of all, we haven't fucked in over a month! You'll be okay." We tried to keep our relations down low so it didn't cause a fuss between the other band members. The only person who knew was Phoebe because I tell her everything. "Okay. Try not to burn the house down while I'm gone. Amelia, don't forget to water my plants. Thank you guys."
"Drive safe. Harry, don't kill her." Elias said. Harry opened the car door for me and I waved goodbye to my friends.
"Do you want to switch positions when we get halfway? And do you want me to do the directions? Also is it okay if I eat in your car?" I asked. I was nervous about spending so much time with Harry at one time. Four days is a long time to spend with someone you've known for less than two months. Yuck. I hated how quickly I was falling for him.
He chuckled at my abundance of questions. "I'm fine driving the whole way, you can do directions if you'd like, and yes you can eat in my car. We'll stop in a few minutes at a gas station for snacks."
"Thank god. I haven't eaten yet and I was afraid to ask you to stop."
"Don't be scared Gypsy. Why didn't you eat before we left?" He asked. His voice was laced with genuine concern.
I shrugged. "I was nervous."
"For what?"
"Uhm...To be completely honest, I was nervous about spending so much time with you. I really enjoy your company but I know how I can be sometimes."
He placed a comforting hand on top of mine to reassure me. "Gypsy, I love spending time with you. No matter how you are, I'll always enjoy being in your presence."
"Why are you so sweet?" I groaned. After our stop at the gas station where I bought a bag of chocolate covered pretzels and he bought trail mix, I fell asleep pretty quickly.
When I woke up, Love Shack was playing which reminded me of my mother. After my mom's death, it was hard for my family. My father fell into a dark place but he didn't want me to notice it but of course I did. To be fair, he wasn't the only one. My mother was my best friend. It was hard for everyone not to immediately love her. She lit up every room she went in. If you were having a bad day, a one minute conversation with her would change that. I think after her death is when I really stopped being religious. I couldn't understand why such an amazing human would be taken from Earth so soon.
