IT WAS NOW THE THIRD period and the score was 3-1, us. luke was sat next to coach naurato and coach rassey. you could tell he wanted to be out on the ice with his friends, especially because scouts for the new jersey devils were watching. i was still standing with maggie by the glass on our end of the rink. i suddenly remembered that i had to go back and sit with luke's family.

"hey maggie, i'm going to sit with luke's family for the rest of the game," i say, turning to the blonde girl. "if you need any help just text me."

"will do pookie!" she replies, and shoos me off towards where the hughes' are sitting. i walk up the stairs to their row and sit down in the seat i sat in earlier.

"so glad you came back," ellen spoke with excitement. "i hate being the only girl here. i feel ganged up on."

i laughed at her silliness. "i know how it feels, now that i live with the boys at the sophomore house avery and i are the only girls."

ellen turns to me with a smile. "i heard that you guys moved in, bless your hearts," she sympathizes. "i can't believe you guys can handle them, boys are gross." jack gives his mom a side eye.

"no we are not," he argues, crossing his arms. "that's just luke." ellen rolls her eyes at jacks stubbornness.

"anyways, what are your plans for the holidays? i know you and your parents usually go to south america to visit family." ellen asks, grabbing her phone from her purse.

"my parents want to go down to brazil but i think i want to stay in michigan this year." i reply. i will admit, i loved going down to see my cousins and grandparents, but this year since luke and i are back together, i want to spend more time with him.

"well you can always stay with us, you know!" jim intervenes and ellen nods her head.

"please do, i can't be the only girl again this year." ellen begs. i laugh at her eagerness.

"i'll have to text my parents about it, but i'm sure they won't care. they wouldn't want me alone over the holidays." jack pokes my shoulder and i turn to him.

"ask them right now," he pressures. "maybe we can surprise luke!"

"that's a great idea, jack!" ellen cheers.

"i didn't know you had a brain." quinn adds, earning a slap and a glare from ellen. i laugh.

"i'll ask them later, they're at work." i reply, making a mental note to text or call my parents after the game or a little later. i feel my phone buzz and i grab it out of my pocket. a text from luke shows up on my screen.
