My first request!! I hope this was kind of what you wanted!

- Third person POV -

Prince Scar Goodtime, heir to the throne, had just turned 18. That meant that his father was to hold a ball, find him a "suitable" noblewoman or dutchess, marry him off and force him into the position of King.

And that was exactly the last thing he wanted.

You see, there was this boy. A boarding school runaway, working as a caretaker in the castle's private gardens. He was gorgeous, and Scar knew that he was the one he wanted to marry.

The brunette walked through the carefully trimmed bushes, not bothering to stop and look at the roses. He spotted a flash of red between the bushes, and before he knew it a small hand grabbed his larger one, pulling him behind a brick wall.

"You're back!" Grian looked at Scar, beaming. That smile never failed to make him melt.
"Where did you think I went?" The taller boy chuckled. "I've only been gone for, like, a day!"

"Planning for the ball, right?" The avian asked quietly, his mood seeming to drop at the idea of it. Scar nodded, taking a breath before building up the courage to ask Grian the question that had been on his mind for months.

"So, um, speaking of the royal ball..." He started nervously, running a hand through his hair. "I know that, uh, we aren't necessarily a couple, I think- but," Scar shifted around to stand in front of the shorter boy, holding both his hands. "I'd love it if you would come to the ball with me."

The avian stared at him, a look of surprise on his face.
"I- yes! I'd love that more than anything!" He beamed. "How would I even get in though? I'm not on the guest list, I can't afford anything nice to wear.." Grian's smile began to drop.

"Don't worry, okay? I'll think of something." Scar put a hand on the blonde's cheek, tilting his head back up to meet his eyes and giving him a quick kiss on the forehead, earning a light blush from Grian.

- A few weeks later -
- Grian's POV -

I stood up from the small patch of bushes I was working on, stretching my arms and wings before making my way inside to the servants' quarters.

The royal ball would be tomorrow, and Scar still hadn't told me how on earth he was meant to sneak me in there. He always played it a little risky, we'd nearly gotten caught kissing before.

I trust him though. He's crazy, but I trust him.

Opening the door to my small bedroom, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye, sitting on my windowsill. I carefully walked over to investigate, and my eyes widened as I opened up the parcel to see a beautiful red suit jacket with white decorations, a white button up shirt, tailored trousers and a black bow-tie. A hand-written note underneath the clothes read:

"Dear Grian,
Don't worry, I have a plan. Wear this tomorrow night and meet me behind the stables at 7 PM.
Love,
Scar :)"

Did he really sign that note off with a smiley face? What a dork. I chuckled to myself, putting my new clothes in my dresser and searching around for anything I could use to touch up my hair a little.

- Scar's POV -

I nervously added the finishing touches to my outfit, a light blue suit jacket, white 'poofy' shirt only halfway buttoned and white dress pants.

I really hope I look good. I really hope Grian thinks I look good.

I took a deep breath before sneaking outside to make my way to the stables, already hearing music coming from the castle ballroom, meaning that the dance had already started.
