The drive to Akk's grandmother's village was a comfortable silence punctuated by stolen glances and nervous fidgeting. Ayan, ever the observant one, noticed the tremor in Akk's hand as he gripped the steering wheel.

"Still bothered by the dream?" he asked softly.

Akk let out a shaky breath. "It felt so real. Like we were being pulled back into that darkness."

Ayan reached over and squeezed Akk's hand with surprising strength. "We're not there anymore, Bigfoot. We have each other now."

The endearment, a relic of their past life, sent a warm shiver down Akk's spine. He squeezed back, a silent promise hanging between them.

As they pulled into the driveway, a wave of relief washed over Akk. His grandmother's cottage, nestled amidst a vibrant garden, had always been a haven for him. He hoped it would be the same this time.

His grandmother, Khlan, greeted them with a warm smile that crinkled the corners of her eyes. But as her gaze settled on Ayan, a flicker of recognition crossed her face. "So, you are back," she said, her voice laced with a knowing that sent shivers down both their spines.

The evening unfolded amidst steaming cups of herbal tea and plates laden with Khlan's famous rice cakes. Ayan, initially apprehensive, found himself charmed by her gentle demeanor and witty stories.

Later, as the fire crackled in the hearth, Khlan took Akk aside. "He remembers too, doesn't he?" she asked, her voice a low murmur.

Akk nodded, his heart thundering in his chest. "The dreams... they're getting stronger."

Khlan's face turned grave. "There's a reason for that, Akk. You both carry a piece of the past within you. A past that needs to be remembered."

Ayan, sensing the seriousness of the conversation, joined them. Khlan fixed him with a gentle gaze. "You were meant to find each other again, Ayan. It's written in the stars."

Ayan and Akk exchanged a hesitant look, a spark of hope igniting in their eyes. Khlan then revealed a hidden compartment in an old wooden chest, pulling out two intricately carved pendants.

"These belonged to your ancestors," she explained. "They were said to be soulmates, bound together across lifetimes."

The pendants were identical, silver moons adorned with tiny sapphires. A strange warmth emanated from them as Akk and Ayan tentatively took them in their hands.

That night, after a restless sleep filled with vivid dreams, Ayan found himself lying awake next to Akk. The fire had died down to embers, casting an intimate glow on the room.

"Are you okay?" he whispered, brushing a stray strand of hair off Akk's forehead.

Akk stirred and opened his eyes. "I was just thinking about what your grandmother said."

Ayan snuggled closer, his heart pounding. "Do you think it's true? About us being soulmates?"

Akk turned to face him, his eyes searching Ayan's. "I don't know," he admitted, his voice a husky whisper. "But there's something about you, Ayan. Something that draws me to you like a moth to a flame."

Ayan's breath hitched. The air crackled with unspoken desire. He leaned in, their lips hovering a breath apart. Akk closed the gap, the kiss a slow, tender exploration.

The taste of peppermint tea and something uniquely Ayan sent a jolt through Akk. Ayan's hand slipped under his shirt, sending shivers down his spine. They explored each other with a newfound urgency, fueled by years of repressed longing.

The fire had reignited, casting flickering shadows on the wall as their kiss deepened. Ayan trailed kisses down Akk's neck, his touch sending shivers down his spine.

Suddenly, Akk pulled away, his breath ragged. "We can't... not here."

Disappointment flickered in Ayan's eyes, but he understood. "You're right," he murmured, his voice thick with desire.

Akk brushed a gentle kiss on his forehead. "Let's just hold each other for now."

They lay entwined, the warmth of their bodies a soothing balm against the lingering chill of their past. As sleep finally claimed them, they held onto the glimmer of hope Khlan's words had ignited.

The next morning, they awoke feeling closer than ever. The pendants hung around their necks, a constant reminder of the bond they shared. They knew their journey had just begun, a journey to unlock the secrets of their past and face whatever the future held, together.

But a shadow lur...
