Chapter 2: The Lone Cyborg (Makes A Friend)

Saitama can be seen in his apartment filling up a watering can shaped like an elephant up with water. In the background, a news broadcast plays on the TV.

News Reporter: "We bring news of the new mosquito outbreak plaguing our nation this year. We'll ask Mr. K, a mosquito expert, who has written several books on the subject."

Mr. K: "Thank you for having me. These mosquitoes belong to an entirely new species, therefore I honestly know nothing about them."

News Reporter: "Ah, come on, WHAT GOOD ARE YOU? GET OFF MY SHOW! Ahem, I mean, how interesting. Let's take a look at a map-"

Saitama: "Damn. City Z is right in their path. Now we've got a mosquito plague to deal with?"

Saitama walks out to his balcony to water his cactus. Apparently, he can't hear the TV anymore.

News Reporter: "We interrupt this news broadcast with a breaking news bulletin. A large swarm of mosquitoes has been sighted in City Z. Mummified remains of attacked farm animals have also been found. If you encounter a large swarm of mosquitoes, it is strongly suggested that you flee immediately."

Saitama waters his cactus without a care in the world. Suddenly, he hears a mosquito buzzing by, and sees one land on his hand holding the watering can. He does the obvious thing, and squishes it between his fingers.

Saitama: Hmm... maybe this is one of those new mosquitoes. Maybe if I find the swarm, I'll be able to adapt to loosing large amounts of blood? Or even over time, adapt to piercing attacks? Meh, might as well go out and try it anyway.

As Saitama prepares to leave, a large cloud of mosquitoes can be seen moving through City Z. Alarms go off in the streets.

Emergency Alarm: "This is an emergency evacuation warning. Threat level: Demon. No resident is to go outside under any circumstances. Please remain indoors. I repeat; no City Z resident-"

A carcass of a bird on a roof is shown. Standing above it is a blonde man with a metallic body. His eyes have black sclera, yellow irises and black pupils.

Unidentified Man: "Acquiring target."

THE LONE CYBORG (MAKES A FRIEND)

A man wearing a beanie and holding a crowbar walks out of an abandoned building. It seems that some people have decided to take advantage of City Z while the residents have fled.

Robber: "Of course, these idiots left in a hurry. They get one warning about mosquitoes and they all go running. Heh, like someone's actually gonna die from a mosquito bite. Hmph, what's a little blood if I get to walk away with all of this-"

The man is interrupted by something quickly flying by him, knocking off his beanie.

Robber: "What was that, the wind?"

Unbeknownst to the man, the mosquito swarm has arrived. They fly towards the man, and completely surround him, getting under his clothes through his pant legs.

Robber: "Huh, what the-?! Hrnnn, STOP! AUGH-"

The mosquito swarm completely covers his body. From the outside, it looks as if the man has just become a black, shimmering mass. Every inch of the man's skin is covered by a mosquito. He screams in agony as his body is sucked dry of blood. The mosquitoes fly above, joining a large ball of themselves, where a red light seems to be coming from within. Inside the swarm is a woman with white and black markings, with a body that has many insect traits.
