Rachel cringed as another contraction tore through her. They were getting worse and closer together, which terrified her. Even though she was now in the back of the ambulance, and had seen for herself on the monitor that the baby's heartbeat was ok, she was still scared. She just wanted to hold her little girl in her arms. She wanted her to be safe.
Eddie's heart threatened to break at the sound of Rachel's screams and cries of pain. She had a tight grip on his hand as the Paramedics examined her leg and ankle. He knew they were just doing their job, but he wanted them to stop as they were hurting her.
"Ok, Rachel, we're going to get you to hospital" one of the Paramedics announced
Rachel nodded tiredly, leaning back against the pillows. She looked over at Eddie, finding herself calming down a little when he smiled at her. She felt a lot less frightened knowing he was by her side.
"Not long now, Rach. You're doing so well" he encouraged
Rachel nodded, grimacing in pain as another contraction began.
