PROM NIGHT. The soft hum of excitement filled the Black sisters' home as Odessa and Tiffany prepared for the much-anticipated prom night. The room was adorned with vibrant flowers, reflecting the spirit of the occasion. Odessa, in her midnight-blue gown, marveled at her reflection in the full-length mirror, the dress complementing her every movement.
Tiffany, in an elegant pink dress that shimmered in the moonlight, twirled with delight. "Can you believe it's finally here?" she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Odessa laughed, "You're going to be the belle of the ball, Tiffany. No doubt about it."
"You look amazing too Essie." Tiffany says hugging her sister. "You'll look even better with your prince charming by your side."
Odessa rolls her eyes. "I already told you Tiff, Smith isnt my boyfriend."
"Sure, sure, but he will be." Tiffany says nudging Odessa's shoulder. Then she sits down in front of the mirror and begins retouching her make up.
"How about you Tiff? Who are you going with?" Odessa asks and Tiffany stops applying her blush.
"No one." She says and the honk of a car downstairs interrupts their discussion. Tiffany had been dating Leo Jackson for like forever. But they broke it off last week and no one knows why. At thr same time everyone thlught they'd get together again for prom. Guess it was only rumours.
The girls lock the door behind them and walk to the car. Smith gets out of the car opens the door for the girls, and when Tiffany gets inside he pulls Odessa aside. He whispers. "You look stunning."
Odessa turned as red as a tomato as she whispers back "so do you Darren." He hugs her as Tiffany rolls down the car window.
"lovebirds, you done already? I dont wanna be late."
The ride there was pretty quiet, Tiffany could see the stolen glances between Odessa and Smith.
The moment they entered the big room, as excpected the attention was on Tiffany. And Odessa let her.
The lights and synchronized with the music, cast a vibrant tapestry of colors across the room. Couples and friends moved with infectious enthusiasm, the air thick with the promise of a perfect evening.
Leo had seen Tiffany and had decided that today he would apologise and ask her to get together.
It was the moment everyone had been waiting for, the annual prom king and queen. The school principal wlaked up the stage with an envelope in his hands.
"Students of Woodsboro high! Welcome everyone to this special night. Its time to announce this year's prom king and queen." He says and opens the envelope everyone curious.
"Prom king! LEO JACKSON!" A round of applause was heard for him. "And now the prom queen. TIFFANY BLACK!"
People exclaimed. "GO TIFFANY!" Odessa claps amd shouts for her sister. "I LOVE YOU TIFF!"
Tiffany happily enters the stage awkwardly looking at Leo, as the principal puts the crowns on their heads.
Just as the euphoria reached its peak, the lights flickered and plunged the venue into sudden darkness. The music abruptly stopped, replaced by gasps and surprised exclamations. In the disorienting blackness, the students found themselves colliding with one another, creating a chaotic scene of confusion.
Amidst the disarray, Odessa felt a strong hand grasping hers. It was Smith, his voice cutting through the darkness, "Stay close!"
The group instinctively gravitated towards each other, their hands fumbling to find familiar faces in the dark. The intermittent emergency lights cast eerie shadows, heightening the tension that lingered in the air. A light shone upon a group of students that had coincidentally bumped into each other.
They all look at each other confused. Smith was holding onto Odessa for dear life. Clover Bellows the sweetheart of the school was very scared. Nicole and Riley were looking around to see what happened. And Evrin looked like he was about to punch someone in the face. Ophelia on the other hand looked unbothered.
Suddenly, a gun shot was heard, and all the lights turn on, revealing Tiffany holding her hands on her stomach as she was bleeding.
A blood-curdling scream that came from Odessa shattered the uneasy silence, sending shivers down their spines. The emergency lights flickered back on, revealing a gruesome sight - Tiffany bleeding and a person dressed in a ghost-like face mask. He held a knife against Tiffany's throat.
Odessa became wild she began thrashing and shoving people who were exiting the room. Smith caught her wrist and pulled her away. Tears were streaming down her cheeks, her make up totally ruined. "TIFFANY, NO NO!!
The killer waved at Odessa as he disappeared in thin air. Leo was frozen in shock. Odessa ripped her dress apart trying to get free from smith, and she ran as fast as she could, to the stage. Tiffany was barely breathing.
"CALL AN AMBULANCE! Call an ambulance, please...please." Odessa broke down crying holding Tiffany on her caressing her hair, holding her like a little child. "NO! NO ! NO!" She turns to the group of students who were still inside the room.
"Call an ambulance, what the fuck are you doing." She looks at Tiffany tears never stopping. She saw that Tiffany was trying to say something "Essie.. baby.." she was coughing up blood. "i- i love yo-"
She stopped breathing.
"NO ANNIE PLEASE DONT LEAVE ME ALONE, PLEASE!" Odessa was holding Tiffany hugging her already dead body.
Her hands were all bloody. Blood that cam from the one person she actually loved.
The police were on their way. Smith picked Odessa up and away from the dead body. But as soon as he put her to her feet she fell to the ground. Desperate and alone.
Smith hugged her trightly, as she cried and cried. Still whimpering and sobbing Smith could her speaking to herself.
"I'll kill that motherfucker."
The prom, once a celebration of joy, had morphed into a twisted ordeal of survival, where every step could lead to either salvation or doom.
