WINDMILL CITY

"Come on!" A young boy yelled.

"I'm coming!" A girl spoke up as she followed the boy a year or so younger than her. Catching up with the dark haired boy as she placed her hands on her knees. "You're fast." She panted.

"You should practice learning to catch up. Shanks is waiting for us."

"Mmm..."

"What is it?"

"Well..." The young girl took off once he was distracted. "It looks like I'm ahead again." She laughed.

"Not fair!!" The boy yelled after her and chased her.

Upon arriving at the destination, the two met with their familiar red haired friend. The two young kids had been friends for a while now and Shanks had grown a soft spot for her.

"I'm off again, you two must behave for everyone in this city. Got it?" Shanks asked.

"Yeah." The girl replied.

"Got it." The young boy grumbled. He always wanted to travel with him and his men even though he was rejected every time he asked.

"Bring back something good!" The girl beamed.

Shanks listened as he chuckled before nodding. "I will do my best. Tell your father I said hello."

"I will." She beamed.

"Miss Crawford! There you are. Your mother has been looking for you." A woman spoke up.

"Seems like you have to head home kid." Shanks teased.

"Aww~!!" The girl pouted as she waved goodbye to the two of them before being scooped up and taken back home.

"Wait up!" The younger girl huffed as she couldn't keep up with the green haired boy in front of her.

"I can't believe you can't keep up." The boy scoffed as he came to a stop.

"You have longer legs than me."

"I-i do not!"

"Yes you do!" She yelled back.

"Whatever! I'm leaving you behind if you keep complaining!"

"No! I'm sorry!" The girl spoke up as she held his hand. Making the boy grow flustered as she was oblivious to the pink on his cheeks.

His own eyes noticed her pink cheeks as he hid his smile from her.

"I'm sorry." The girl spoke as she glanced up at the green haired. "I didn't know we would be moving again but I want you to know that I.."

The teen listened as they had recently lost one of their friends and now he was losing her too. It felt like nothing was going his way. "Why?" He asked.

"I.. I can't tell you. You wouldn't like the reason." She mumbled.

"Then stay here with me."

"I have to go with my family."

"What about me?"

"You mean a lot to me and I.. I like you as more than a friend should but.. you aren't mine."

"I can be."

"Then you have to come find me. Promise me."

"I'll find you." He spoke as he glanced at her. "I will do whatever it takes."

The teen smiled at him and his confidence. "I will be waiting for you then." She spoke. Leaning up and giving him a small kiss.

His cheeks turned red as he closed his eyes and let the small kiss happen again. Keeping her close to him. Pulling away to catch his breath. "Wait for me Princess."

"Q-quit it with the nicknames or I'll make sure you never find me again."

"Try it all you want. You've already made me promise to find you and you know that I will." He spoke.

Her cheeks became pink in color that time as she turned away embarrassed.

There was a calm atmosphere between the two of them.

An understanding.

She knew that he would be able to locate her if he tried and he knew that she wouldn't really hide from him.

Standing in one another's arms as he didn't want to let go just yet. "I have something for you before you leave." He whispered.

"What is it?" She asked.

"Close your eyes." He instructed and watched her do so. Sliding something into her index finger.

"Can I see it now?" She asked.

"Yeah. Open your eyes."

Her eyes lowered to her hand as she noticed the gift from him had been a ring. One that she recognized as being a collection from his family. "I can't take this. This is-."

"This is my promise to you. My family has passed it down to me and I choose you. You are my promise." He whispered to her when he saw that her family was done loading their things in the moving truck.

She didn't know what to say as she hugged him shyly. "I-i'll see you when you come find me and give you my thoughts on it then." She whispered back.

"Come on, honey!"

"Coming mom!" She yelled back before glancing at him as she gave him one last kiss before running off to the car and getting inside shyly.

"Someone's got a boyfriend~." She heard from the driver's seat.

"D-dad stop it!" She hid herself away from her parents teasing as she couldn't stop her blushing.

Turning her head to look out the window as she watched the boy standing in the same spot. Giving a slight wave towards him as she knew it would be a while before they would meet again.

The boy waved back as he watched her and the car leaving. He refused to move until he could no longer see her or the car.
