Waking up by someone knocking at his door at 5 am wasn't really pleasant for Shubman, specially when he was up late last night, as his teammates had barged into his room at 12 am to wish him birthday. He also had some phone calls from his family and friends before he was able to sleep. Not that he mind any of that, it's a nice feeling to know people care enough to wish you. He just wanted to sleep a little more since the team don't have any practice today. He might be a little sad as well 'cause his bestfriend neither called nor texted him to wish, but also he understands that he might be busy. Shubman knows he will call him sooner or later.
One more knock at his door got him out of his reverie, he yawned and dragged himself out of his bed with a "coming."
"Who-" His words were stuck at the tip of his tongue when his eyes fell on the person standing in front of him.
"Hey there, Shubi." Ishan smiled cheekily as Shubman was still frozen from the shock. It took him a minute to snap out of the shock before he jumped onto Ishan, almost making him loose his balance. Ishan stumbled a bit, but balanced himself and held Shubman tightly.
When Ishan realised Shubman is not letting him go anytime soon, he made his way inside, somehow pushing his suitcase as well and closing the door.
After a minute he said, "Okay, you big baby, get down now. Let me sit."
"No." Shubman mumbled and held onto him tighter. "Just sit like this."
"Oh, are you that desperate to sit on my lap, darling?"
"Shut up." Shubman said as he got down and both of them sat on the bed. Ishan chuckled at Shubman's embarrassed face. For someone who acts so tough on the outside, he does gets easily flustered when it comes to Ishan.
"I missed you, ishu." Shubman said, hugging him again.
"Aw, I missed you too, Meri Jaan."
"What are you doing here, by the way?"
"Oh, I'm here to meet Virat bhaiya."
"Oh." Shubman replied, he genuinely looked confused and a bit sad. Does he really don't understand why Ishan came or did he really believed that Ishan came here to meet Virat bhai?
"Ofcourse, I came here for you, idiot. How could I miss your birthday?"
Shubman smiled, feeling extremely touched by this gesture of Ishan. He travelled all the way to England to be with Shubman on his birthday even when he was on a break.
Ishan opened his suitcase and pulled out a small box, extending it towards Shubman, "Here's your gift. Happy birthday, Meri Jaan."
"The universe has already given me the best gift in form of you. Nothing could match that."
"You're so cheesy sometimes." Ishan said despite the fact that his heart might have did a somersault at that.
"But I mean it. You coming here specially for me is already the best gift, baby."
"Aw, I love you too, now open your gift."
Shubman giggled as he opened the box. It has a personalised silver bracelet inside of it. The bracelet has "The brightest star: My Sun" engraved at one side and Shubman's initials on the other. Shubman felt his heart swelling with affection for the man infront of him as he looked at the engraved phrase. Involuntary, a little pout made it's way onto his lips as he looked at Ishan.
"You know, how everyone says I'm the sun who brings joy and brightens everyone's life but You, you are the one who brightens my life and brings joy into my world. You are my sun, Meri Jaan." Ishan spoke, gently caressing Shubman's cheeks. Shubman couldn't help tearing up a little at that. He just hugged Ishan, unable to say anything.
