Title: Misfit

For context: I made this when I finally got diagnosed as autistic. This poem isn't my best, but I mainly just wanted to get the meaning and my feelings into words. If you've ever felt different, or outcasted by society, or alone, this poem is for you.

Surrounded by glowing colors

Purple, blue, red, pink, yellow, green

Every shade possible

Each one an individual soul

One soul, one color.

Yet in the mirror

There's a rainbow

But only one soul;

Mine.

I didn't understand;

Nobody did.

Not everyone saw my rainbow's beauty

So I hid it under a carefully-crafted mask

Until the day I discovered

Myself

And other rainbows

All unique and different

Yet so similar and kind.

And so we wait for the day

When we can remove our masks for good

And shine our rainbows

For all to see.
