Chapter 7

Chloe

When I woke in the middle of the night, Andy's arms were still wrapped tightly around me. Almost too tight, but I didn't move. Glancing over at the clock, I saw that it was 2:44 a.m. I closed my eyes, hoping to fall back asleep.

His body shifted around mine, and I knew he was awake. I kept my eyes shut, pretending to still be asleep.

"Chloe, my sweet Chloe," he whispered into my hair. His voice gave me goosebumps. "I can't believe I almost lost you," he whispered to himself.

My throat tightened as I remembered yesterday.

I was so stupid. I was blinded with rage, and acted irresponsibly. I knew that now. But, even though I had apologized, I still felt like it didn't make up for running off on him. I felt so horrible inside, and I couldn't understand how he could forgive me so easily.

It's because he loves you, my conscience said.

Andy sighed, flexing his arms around me and then relaxing them again.

"Stitch these wounds with me tonight," he sang sleepily, sighing again. I could tell by the fading of his low voice that he had been singing to me while I was asleep, and that he had just now finished the song.

Oh, how I loved him.

I slowly rolled over and put my face into his chest, inhaling deeply.

"I love you, Andy," I whispered sleepily, pretending that I had just woken up.

"I love you too Chloe," Andy said. "Now, go back to sleep hun," he whispered. "Why?" I mumbled, sounding like a stubborn child.

"Because you're tired, and your body needs rest," Andy said. I grumbled into his chest, but said nothing more, letting sleep overpower me.

When I woke up again that morning the room was filled with light. I buried my face in Andy's arms, trying to smother the brightness of the sun.

I heard him chuckle. He was always awake while I was asleep, it seemed.

"What's so funny?" I said with a giggle.

"You," he said.

"Oh? And what about me?"

"You're just so cute, that's all," he whispered. I felt myself blush against his arms.

"And so are you," I said. He was quiet for a time but then he began humming, his chest vibrating against my head.

"Shit," he mumbled to himself, his humming ceasing.

"What's wrong?" I asked, looking up at him.

"I forgot to call the guys last night. I was supposed to tell them I found you," Andy said.

Again, the feelings of regret came flooding back. I had caused him so much trouble and pain with my stupidity.

"You had better called them," I whispered, almost to myself. He unwrapped his arms from around me and got off the bed, picking his pants up off the floor. Reaching into his back pocket, he pulled out his phone, dialing a number.

"Hey CC," Andy said quickly. "Sorry I didn't call you last night, man." He paused. "Yeah, I'm with her, she's fine. We're at the hotel on the edge of town. Yeah. Okay. Thanks man, see you later," Andy said, and then hung up. He tossed his phone onto his pile of clothes on the floor, and got back into the bed.

He crawled in next to me, and I winced as his leg touched my thigh.

"Shit, I'm sorry hun," Andy said.
