Chapter 9

Andy

"That's horrible," Chloe said as I told her in detail about being bullied in high school.

"Yeah. They put papers on my locker that said fag and emo, too. Shit like that. So I eventually dropped out and pursued my music career," I said.

"And look at you now," Chloe whispered. I smiled down at her, and kissed the tip of her nose. "Mmhmm," I said. We laid there in silence for a while, and soon my eyes started to droop again. Those damn nightmares, I thought. I sighed, and rubbed my eyes.

"I wonder where we are," Chloe said to herself. I shrugged my shoulders, not really caring where we were at.

I was just happy I had distracted Chloe from wanting to cut. She scared me with the way she talked, begging me to let her cut herself. Honestly, part of me wanted to let her, because for a few moments, she would feel better. But the other part of me said no, because in the long run I knew she would just feel worse.

"I'm so proud of you," I whispered, the words flowing out of my mouth involuntarily.

"For what?" She asked, a cute look of confusion on her face. I pressed my lips to hers, relishing the touch.

I pulled slightly away for a moment, just far enough that I could speak.

"For never giving up," I whispered, pressing my lips to hers once more. I could feel the smile on her face as we kissed, and as she ran her fingers through my hair, I shivered as goosebumps raised the hair on my arms.

I loved how she could make me feel like a school boy with a silly crush. Just the simple touch of her fingers sent sparks through my body, the sound of her voice made my heart feel warm.

She nuzzled her head on my neck and I hugged her tighter, and glanced over at the clock on the nightstand. Calculating the time in my head, I figured that we had about two hours left until we made it to Detroit.

"Hey Chloe," I whispered. I had an idea for what we could do until then.

"Hmmm?" She asked.

"You wanna watch Batman until we get to Detroit?" I asked, smiling.

She smiled back. "Sure."

Standing up, I walked over to the tv on the wall and turned it on, and pressed play. As usual, Batman was already in the DVD player. I returned to the bed, and held Chloe again as the movie started.

About halfway through the movie I noticed that Chloe had fallen asleep, and I tried my hardest to do the same. I closed my eyes and laid on the bed, trying to drown out the sound of the movie. But, I just couldn't make myself fall asleep.

So, I laid there and continued to watch the movie until I heard a knock on the door.

"Come in," I said. Jake walked in, a bottle of coke in his hand.

"We're in Detroit, and we'll be at the venue in about fifteen minutes," Jake said.

"Alright, thanks man," I said, sitting up. Chloe woke up when I moved from her, and she sat up next to me.

"We're almost there Chloe," I said as Jake left the room. She yawned and nodded.

"How much longer?" She asked.
