Vegas' mood went from the top of the moon to the depths of the earth. lately, he was always in an uplifted mood with the adoption process getting finalized and he also got a new lead on Pete but today suddenly nothing made sense. All the info and links came to a dead end, to add more to it one of his informants messed up his head by telling him that his connections saw Pete somewhere around the capital city of Laos but lost him while trying to reach him.

Vegas believed the person was mistaken, Vegas wanted to believe that, no, he was almost sure. And why would Pete stay in Laos and not come back to him if he is not captive, Vegas was certain it wasn't Pete.

The information made Vegas dizzy. Just two days ago he got a new lead on the drug cartel he is been tracking. Vegas was sure it was them who had abducted Pete. The leads led him to Laos and when he told his connections to dig further, they came up with a piece of information that messed up his mind.

It was PAX, the cartel Vegas has been following for one and half years now. They were once among the top three dealers in Thailand's black markets and also one of the international drug networks Pete had direct connection with as he was trying to bust this cartel and had already arrested five of their local dealers.

Pete was one of the best in their unit, little weak in his undercover game but was sharp, the best with investigations and his connections were unpredictable. In his last operation Pete and his team were working with the narcotics bureau to target drug networks with international footprints and were successful to seize large amount of drugs and also were able to arrest some big names in local black market.

"You looked fine till yesterday what made you stressed now" Pol one of the close colleague asked Vegas watching him distressed.

"I'm not reaching anywhere" Vegas spoke brushing his own hair frustratingly.

"About Pete? did you get any new leads?"

"a few but I'm in a dead end now, its driving me crazy" Vegas took a deep sigh and looked up at pol with defeated eyes.

"What did you find?" Pol was one of the few Vegas trusted to share his information and ask for help for his cases. Pol was a friend and a senior with experience. he joined at the same time as Pete and was one of the close friends of Pete and in turn to Vegas, someone who doesn't see Vegas as a crazy one and wants to find Pete as much.

"My sources have been tailing Pax and found their traces in Laos and can you believe what one of them informed me today? they saw Pete roaming around Laos" Vegas laughed, he doesn't know he was laughing on his sources or on himself.

"That doesn't make sense...  Pete would have come back to you, they must be mistaken."

"Yes, they must be mistaken" Vegas spoke more to himself.

"Hey, you will find Pete soon, Pax can't stay out of business for long, if they have made it back till Laos they will reach here too, I will dig around too" pol spoke pressing Vegas' shoulders.

What made Pax the biggest suspect for Vegas was their sudden disappearance from Bangkok after around three months of Pete's disappearance. Although the blow by Pete and his team was huge for them but also wasn't fatal enough to bring an international cartel down so easily. Also, after Pax vanished, Pete's former team dropped the operation midway which was very suspicious for Vegas to have them aborted the operation after achieving such success.

Days after that were hard for Vegas to come to work for months as he had to see two of the members of petes team acting nonchalant. After Pete's abduction both of them avoided Vegas for weeks, and after the operation was aborted Vegas did put a big commotion in the office with them, he was enraged on how they can just let go of something Pete worked so hard for. Vegas was angry to the point he got physical and got suspended for a week.

After the commotion Vegas was seen as someone who has lost his mind. Everyone knew he was emotionally distressed after Pete's abduction but after the incident many officers from his unit started to avoid him and as days went Vegas lost his trust on anyone and everyone and decided to take matters on his own hand and search for Pete himself, as a result he started to get into operations of other departments that could lead him to Pete. he was seen as a nuisance and as a crazy cop.

But no matter what others say, what others think or name Vegas as, he can't give up on Pete, he just can't, not now, not ever.........
