Hi my loves!! Guess who's back!!

So before I begin this chapter, let me clarify that this fic will depict the Morningstars as well as some other characters as religious, specifically Christian. And I'm aware that including religion in fanfics can be a little controversial and many people don't like it—either because they aren't religious or because they prefer not to see their beliefs being mocked or portrayed incorrectly. So let me just say that I am writing this as a former Christian myself. I assure you I will handle that part of the story as respectfully as I can. And honestly it's really not going to affect the overall plot, I just thought it would make for an interesting detail. And it will introduce us to a couple more characters later on! :3

Anyway, just wanted to get that out of the way so that none of my non-religious readers are put off when it's mentioned in this first chapter, and also to assure my Christian readers that I'm not here to make a mockery of their practice.

Hope you enjoy! I am SOOO sorry this update has taken so long. Writers block is a bitch. But so am I lmao

"Charlie! Rise and shine, sweetie pie!"

Charlie's eyes slowly fluttered open to the sight of the early morning sun peeking through the slabs of her window blinds. She groaned softly, crawling back into consciousness as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes. The sound of her mother's voice calling from another room rang out again, this time a little louder, indicating she was in closer proximity.

"Oh Charlieee!" Sang the mother, a gentle knock on the door following shortly after.

The little girl turned to lie on her other side in the bed to be faced with the door, and shortly after she was met with the sight of her mother peeking her head through the opening, greeting her with that warm smile of hers. "Time to wake up, my love. Or we'll be late for church."

"Mmm..." Charlie could only mutter in response as she closed her eyes again, slightly burying her face between the pink pillows beneath her head. Exhaustion had yet to leave her, and it came as no surprise, as for the first time since she was a baby, she had difficulty falling asleep the night before. It may have had something to do with the events that took place yesterday, be it the scary man that attempted to take her away from everything she loved, or the much kinder but peculiar man that made a promise to become her guardian for all eternity. Whichever it was, it kept her up for longer than she was used to, and waking up at the crack of dawn didn't provide much ease.

Lilith, however, was unaware of this and misinterpreted the girl's reluctance to get out of bed as her not wanting to go. "Oh, come on. Don't give me that." She scolded playfully with a hand on her hip. "It'll be fun! Maybe you can try playing with the other kids after."

Ever since Charlie was born, she and her parents attended their local church every Sunday and on certain holidays. It was a basic routine that Charlie never really questioned, and never complained. She didn't know that there was a time when her parents didn't go on a weekly basis, or that there was a point where neither of them even believed in God. That was a story they reserved for when she was older and would understand better. But that was in the past. Presently, Lucifer would donate to the church very often and Lilith would sometimes volunteer to chaperone Bible School or host other fun events for the kids. They made quite a name for themselves, not only in their careers but amongst their local community.

Charlie groaned again, lifting her face from the crevice of the pillows to show the sleepiness in her eyes. "Five more minutes, Mommy?" She requested with a whine, but it only made the woman scoff.
