TW: SUICIDE ATTEMPT, AGNST

Thick, salty tears trickled down Beomgyu's face as he stood on the edge of his school rooftop. He cried for help. He cried for himself with big heaving sobs that hurt his ribs whenever he tried to catch his breath. He didn't want to be alone anymore, and he didn't want his loved ones to see the loneliness he tried so hard to hide from them. He just wanted comfort, comfort from who he loved, and didn't care about anything else. He didn't care if he didn't have money and had no place to live in. He just wanted love. But even that he couldn't have. All his life, he believed that love could be the end to all his problems or maybe just a mask to cover them up. A lover who could comfort him and make his life less stressful. He had always seen love as the most valuable thing in life. Even so, the universe ignored his pleas. He was going to put an end to all this misery, all this suffering, everything. Just when he was about to jump...

"CHOI BEOMGYU!"

A voice called out. A voice Beomgyu knew all too well. A hand wrapped itself around his wrist in a tight grip and pulled him back. Beomgyu fell backward. Luckily, someone caught him. He turned around, not surprised to be met with the sight of Yeonjun. Beomgyu quickly pulled away. Once again, hot tears came streaming down his wide, shocked eyes. What's with Yeonjun appearing out of the blue when he cries?

"What are you doing-"

"Don't ask questions." Yeonjun cut him off and pulled him into a comforting hug. He placed Beomgyu's face gently on the crook of his neck and patted his head softly. "Let it out first, cry it out. Yell at me, scream at me, shout at me. Vent out your feelings. That's what you need right now."

Beomgyu sobbed. His words broke up, and all that came out were stuttering words. "Why does my life suck? I-" He sobbed. "I-I can't stand it anymore! J-Just when I thought- I thought it would probably get better! But no- I h-hate my life! I'm helpless, and help is literally w-what I need the most right now! I thought I could w-win that prize and my life would be better! I needed that money, Yeonjun- I needed that!"

Yeonjun felt the younger's arms hesitately hug him back.

"I-I hate you, you know? I don't know why you ended our friendship! You were my favorite person! And I hate how I'm your least favorite now! I-I hate waking up every morning knowing that you hate me so much! W-Why? Why did you- why did you end our friendship? Sometimes, I feel like if you were still my friend, things wouldn't be so hard to bear! I hate you!"

Those words hit Yeonjun's heart like he was being stabbed by daggers a million times. Each and every word that came out of the younger's mouth was a bullet to his heart. He knew he deserved that, though. Soon, Beomgyu's sobs faded out, and he calmed down.

Yeonjun pulled away from the hug, still holding Beomgyu by his shoulders. He also had tears falling from his eyes. "I'm really sorry, Beomgyu. I regret it so much. I don't hate you at all. And about the money, here's the check." Yeonjun pulled out the check from his pocket and handed it to Beomgyu. "You deserve it, Beomgyu. Not only the money, but all the love in the world. You didn't deserve to suffer like that. I know that my words and comfort won't make the pain go away, but I really wish I'll be able to help you through thick and thin. If we can, if we just can, can we Try Again?"

The younger took a moment to process all of this. He nodded as an answer, too stunned and speechless.

Yeonjun's eyes lit up, his plump lips curled into a soft smile. "I'm sorry." He apologized one last time. "You don't even need to forgive me. I don't deserve it." He wiped off the tears off Beomgyu's face carefully with his thumb.

Beomgyu giggled. "I do forgive you, Yeonjun."

"You know how my parents hate me and treat me bad?" Beomgyu said.

The two boys were now sitting on a bench in a park. What about school, you say? They both agreed to ditch school just this once. I mean, who would wanna suffer more by listening to the teachers yap on and on about boring lessons after crying gallons of tears?

"So, when I was 12, they snooped around my backpack and found a love letter. It was for a guy, and of course, they're homophobic so they kicked me out." Beomgyu continued. "My cousins were rich, and they helped me out. I stayed with them until I found a part-time job and had enough for a small apartment."

Yeonjun listened attentively. "Who was the guy? The guy you were going to give that letter to?"

Beomgyu thought for a moment. "I can't remember. It was a long time ago."

Except, he does remember.

"CHOI BEOMGYU!"

Beomgyu heard his mother yell from upstairs. He raced up the stairs.

"Yes?" Beomgyu asked.

His eyes widened at the sight of his mother holding the love letter with his father beside her.

"Mom, how did you get that?"

"What is this, Choi Beomgyu!? A love letter? For a boy!?" His mother yelled.

Beomgyu stayed silent as tears started welling in his eyes.

"Wait, what was his name.." His mom looked at the letter again. "Who's Yeonjun, Beomgyu!?"

Beomgyu looked down to his feet. His fist clenched on his side.

"Answer us, you little brat!" His father yelled.

His dad stormed towards him, pulled Beomgyu harshly by his arm, and pulled him outside. He pushed the boy out the door.

"Stay here. I'll go pack your bag. We're kicking you out." His dad said. "I've always wanted to get rid of this brat..." He mumbled as he went back inside the house.

Soon, he came back with a bag full of clothes and a few dollars. He threw the bag at Beomgyu.

"Now, shoo." He slammed the door shut.

Beomgyu weakly made his way to his cousins.
