"If you don't have money, how are you here in this, uh.. rich kids school?" Yeonjun asked.
"Scholarship." Beomgyu replied.
Yeonjun's ears reddened in embarrassment. "I'm sorry. That was insensitive of me."
"No, no. It's okay." Beomgyu reassured. He allowed silence to surround them before speaking, "So, tell me. Why did you end our friendship when we were 11?"
Tell me, tell me. T-t-t-t-t-tell me. Stan Wonder Girls.
"You were 11. I was 12!" Yeonjun shifted his eyes off the younger and onto the ground. "You know how your dad and mine once ran a business together?"
"Wait, my dad had a business? He told me we were poor and he worked at a..." Beomgyu paused. "He never told me where he worked at..."
"Your dad's a jerk." Yeonjun said.
"Agreed." Beomgyu replied.
"So, anyways, your dad betrayed my dad, and soon, my parents divorced because dad found a, what you may call, a sugar mommy. My mom became paranoid of you turning out to be the same kind of person as your dad and told me to end our friendship. I love my mom, so I did what she told me to do." Yeonjun explained.
"Im sorry that happened." Beomgyu took a moment to let all of that sink in. "So, how's it going now?" Beomgyu asked. "For your mom?"
"It's great. She found a loving husband. He's rich, so I guess mom hit the jackpot." Yeonjun said.
Beomgyu nodded. "Remember the playground we used to always play in?" Beomgyu said, lighting up the atmosphere a bit.
Yeonjun chuckled. "Of course. I passed by it a few times, and it's still as isolated as ever."
Beomgyu chuckled, too. "Remember when we had to eat at a bus stop because we were too short to get on the tall chairs in the convenience store?"
"And then it started raining, and I had to go buy an umbrella!" Yeonjun said. "Then your clumsy ass tripped, and I had to carry you!"
"No one told you to!" Beomgyu protested. "You were the one worrying their ass off over a small scratch."
"You were bleeding!"
"You were the one who insisted on giving me a piggyback. You have no right to complain!"
"Hey, who bought you gummies, huh!?"
"One pack! I wanted two!"
"Be grateful, you brat!"
"I would be if you bought me two bags!"
Yeonjun stopped talking back and stared at the younger, realizing how silly their conversation was. He burst out laughing. Beomgyu stared at him, confused. Then, he started to laugh, too.
"How are we gonna deal with Mr Yoon tomorrow?" Beomgyu asked, his laughs faded down. "He's gonna give us an earful because we skipped school and should've informed first."
"Gotta face the music sometimes, I guess." Yeonjun replied. "What do we do now?"
"Wanna get to know each other?" Beomgyu suggested. "When I'm comfortable with someone, I want to know things about them."
Yeonjun nodded in agreement. "So, what's your favorite color?"
"Baby blue." Beomgyu answered. "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
"I wanna become a singer first, then I'll probably open a shop or run a business together with my lover." Yeonjun replied. "You?"
"I too wanna be a singer. Then I'll open a cafe that's also a library and also a bakery." Beomgyu counted with his fingers. "I'll also open an animal shelter."
