chapter 19

December 23rd

Rescue mission.

Nathan's dialogue

After finding the location where Lauryn was being held at, we eventually found her but help had come to late for her or so I thought. Peter found her body laying on the cement floor after she sustained a life threatening injury to her neck but she was still alive but her heartbeat was slowing down with every passing second we delayed getting her immediate help.

Peter: she has a pulse but is cold to the touch...

Nathan: you're the fastest one here Peter, get her back to the mansion and don't stop until you get there...

I watched as he gently picked her up and left with her in his arms.

Logan: do you trust him enough to be alone with her?

Nathan: no but he can get her there so she can get treated quickly. She wanted to tell you sooner but she wanted to move into the place you were telling her about so she could get away from all this fighting that was going on.

Logan: yeah well, I was informed that the place was destroyed by Stryker, he believed I was there and had it demolished so...

Nathan: not that the place you had in mind for her to live in wasn't safe because I'm sure it was and as kindhearted as she is, I'm afraid that she will never be safe as long as Stryker is after all of us.

Logan: maybe you're right but Xavier wants what is best for us including staying safe and protected, which is why he wants Lauryn somewhere where she isn't being tracked down by Stryker.

Nathan: we should head back to the mansion and make sure they made it back without being attacked.

Logan: don't tell Lauryn know but I'm glad she has you around instead of Peter, something about him seems off but I don't get the same feeling from you and truth be told you remind me of myself when I was your age.

Nathan: with all due respect, Lauryn and I aren't together. She doesn't have the same feelings for me that she has for Peter, she loves Peter and I don't want to come between them Logan.

We headed back to the mansion, I checked in on Lauryn every chance I could but Peter never left her side. The professor told me that the bullet had been removed and that she was going to pull through despite her having a scar from where they had to stitch her neck up after removing the bullet from her body along with the pain she would feel after she woke up.

Peter: thank you for saving her professor...

Xavier: you saved her, I'm just giving her treatment. You and Nathan should put aside your differences, she wouldn't want to see you two fighting when she does wake up.
