Becker led the group back to where they left Jaren's truck and Kandace's car. The only problem was; the two were severely damaged. Did the infected damage them? Or, did someone that wasn't infected damage them? This was a setback even Charli didn't see coming.

"Oh look," Vere said sarcastically. "Our ride's out of commission. What now genius?" Vere turned xyrs attention to Becker. There was a condescending smile plastered across Vere's face.

Becker walked over to Vere and punched xem in the stomach. "Well, for starters, you're going to cut the attitude," Becker started, allowing Vere to fall to xyrs knees in pain. "Second of all, in case you haven't noticed, we're going to keep walking. That's unless you have any other ideas."

Vere kept quiet and glared up at Becker. It was almost as if Vere knew Becker would kill xem if xe protested. Why Vere was still around was beyond xem.

"Good. Now, let's go." Becker forced Vere to xyrs feet. Becker then shoved Vere forward to get xem to start walking.

"Uh Becker? I don't mean to speak out of turn (mostly because you're extremely terrifying right now) but, are you sure walking is a good idea?" Ayden asked.

Becker glanced over at Ayden and said, "Don't worry, if you need a break for one reason or another, let me know and I'll give you a break."

Ayden sighed and said, "Thank you."

Becker started walking, leading the others in a direction it hoped would lead to another safe room. Would it take a while since they were walking? Yes. Was that going to stop Becker from getting the others out alive? No. Becker was determined to keep the others alive. Although, Vere was on thin ice. There was a high chance Becker was going to hesitate when saving Vere. After all, Vere was getting on Becker's last nerve. And Becker wasn't going to let that slide. As much as Becker wanted to break Vere's legs and leave xem to die, Becker chose to let xem live. Becker did, in fact, see a use for Vere.

Becker made sure there wasn't anything of a major threat in their way. Although, promises couldn't be made since the special infected were unpredictable. All was quiet apart from the occasional shooting. The thought of why Vere was being kept alive had crossed Becker's mind. There was no way Vere and Larry could be related, right? After all, the two do have similar personalities. The only difference between Larry and Vere is that Vere isn't persistent with xyrs abhorrent behaviour. Was it possible that Becker trusted Vere? Or, was it possible that Becker was finding it difficult to trust Vere due to xyrs similarities to Larry? It was hard to say.

The group had walked a few miles outside of Wendover and spotted something unusual. On the side of the road was what looked like a medical center. What was it doing out in the middle of nowhere? Was it possible that CEDA had set it up there to prevent the infection from spreading further? Or, did they set it up to make sure the people they were evacuating weren't infected? Did they set it up to find a cure? Or, were they trying to CREATE a cure? After all, it was a bit of an odd thing to find on the side of the road.

Ayden stopped the group and said, "Before we go any further, I think we should check this out."

"Why would we want to do that?" Jaren asked.

"Well, what if someone's still there? If there is, shouldn't we at least see if they'd help us?"

"Good point, but what if that person turns out to be dangerous?" Charli chimed in with a hint of caution in her voice. Charli firmed his grip on his gun as a means of being cautious. It was better to be safe than sorry, right?

"Well, there's one way to find out."

Becker took that as a hint that Ayden needed to take a break from walking. Becker started leading the group to the medical center. Ayden may not have said it directly, but there was a part of him that needed a break from walking. That part being that their phantom pains were starting to agitate them. The other part being that Ayden was still getting used to his prosthetic leg since it was still new. Ayden wished that their previous prosthetic leg had lasted a little longer.
