I walk into our backyard and sit cross-legged under the willow tree. I open the picture book I brought with me. There's a picture of me and my brother William at Christmas when we were little. We're sitting in the living room floor and he's playing with a model airplane, brown hair a mess from bed, while I open up an outdoor swing.
I flip to the most recent page, taken last week, where there's a selfie of me and my friends at the beach. Me, Aurelia, Luna and Olivia are crammed in the frame, sunburns and all. I tape in the newest photo, in which me and my best friend Olivia visited the museum. Before I can finish taping it in, Olivia calls me.
"Hello?" I answer. "Adelynn, you need to get to King Street fast. Something big is happening." At that, she hangs up, leaving me to rush to the car and drive to King Street.
