Chapter Twelve

Chapter 12

I nudge Flicka's sides and walked her to the starting place, moving to a trot, then a canter before finally reaching the start place and racing full gallop towards the barrels. We rounded the first barrel and cleared it.

Rounded the second barrel. Cleared it.

Then came the third barrel. We rounded it but I felt my leg brush the side of the barrel. I kept my eye on it but it didn't move. We raced back to the starting point before they called time. I slowed down my horse before coming to a stop and jumping off her back. They weren't gonna tell my time until after everyone had went. Megan hugged me as we waited for Ashley to finish. Of course she had to waved at everyone around the ring before she took off. She took off to quickly from the start point and cleared the first barrel. She wasn't to lucky on the second. It wobbled before toppling to the ground. She cleared the third barrel and raced back to the start. She cursed under her breath as she pulled her horse to a stop an got off. I smirked to myself knowing I would have a better score than her because she hit a barrel and it fell.

The last person went and cleared the first and second barrel and just barely tapped the third. I hopped back onto my horse, as did the other riders and waited for our names to be called. I grinned to myself when it was me, Ashley, and one other girl left outside the ring. I knew I would get second or first cause Ashley would probably get third for knocking the barrel over. Ashley's name was called over the speaker along with her time. She made it in 14.7 seconds, but knocking the barrel over added a couple seconds to that ending in an total of 17.7 seconds. She frowned going up to grab the ribbon she revived and clipped it to her shirt while they clipped one to the horses bridle. You could tell she wasn't very pleased..

It was now between me and the other girl. She looked familiar but i couldn't remember where i could've seen her. She was young maybe 12 or 13 and I could tell she was nervous of her score. I held my hand out to her and smiled. She took it and smiled back.

"And first place winner is.." The announcer trailed off. I silently prayed for my name to be called then the speaker boomed again.

"Jessica Soles! With a time of 13.2 seconds! Congratulations!" I trotted into the ring followed by the other girl. Her and her horse both got ribbons and a small trophy and then they came to me. Me and my horse each got a ribbon and I received a larger trophy that had flowers in it. The girl that won second asked it she could hand me the trophy and they allowed and they snapped a picture for both of us.

We left the ring and I saw Harry and dad standing outside the gate talking to Megan. Harry noticed me and the other girl walking out and he smiled at me. I rode over and got off and he wrapped me in a hug.

"You were great out there babe!" He said pulling away slightly and kissing my forehead.

"Thanks." I replied smiling. I pulled away when Megan came over.

"You were amazing and you beat Ashley again!" She laughed and I joined her. Dad came over and hugged me and told me he'd take Flicka and head home an me and Harry could stay an watch Megan race. He took my awards an lead my horse to the trailer. Megan headed over to her start spot and we went to get some drinks. I grabbed a water an he grabbed a coke. We found seats in the front row closest to the center. We talked and watched a few of the riders as they moved around the ring. Soon if was Megan's turn an we stopped talking and paid attention to her. Her and her horse moved around the ring in perfect synchronization. I had to admit they were amazing. I couldn't do what they were doing out there. I'd get dizzy. Once she was done, that ran back to the opening if the gate and waited for the others to get done. Once everybody was done the winners were called. One younger guy won third, some girl won second an Megan won first. Which made me stand up and scream her name when she was called. Harry stood up with me clapping for her as I jumped up and down excited for my best friend. We left the risers we were sitting on and made our way to Megan. She was sitting on her horse as people walked by congratulating her. I ran up to her, careful to not spook the horse. She handed me her trophy and hopped off her horse.

"You did great!" I said hugging her.

"Thanks!" She said taking her trophy back and grabbing the reins to her horse.

"You were amazing out Megan!" Harry said from beside me.

"Thanks Harry!" She said smiling. "That was a new routine that I did and it was tricker I'm surprised I did that good." She laughed and looked at me. "Your lucky barrel raging is easy!" She said in a joking tone.

"Hey barrel rack g is not easy!" I said laughing. "So you guys wanna come by my house for dinner?" I asked them both.

"Let me get home and put Magic away and get her feed and ill be right over." She said smiling. I looked at Harry for his answer.

"Sure." He said smiling.

"Whoa whoa wait in not gonna be the third wheel am I?" Megan smiled. I laughed.

"Noo you won't be the third wheel." I said laughing then I thought of a nice comeback. "My brother will probably be there he can join us. You know he still has a thing for you." I winked at her. She smacked my arm and blushed.

"Shut up.." She mumbled smiling and looking away.

"Aww!! Is Megan blushing?!" I said in a singsong voice and laughed.

"No I'm not!" She laughed. By that point we were at her trailer and she was sitting her stuff on the truck. "I'll bring my awards I know your dad will want pictures." She continued laughing.

"Yeah that's true." I laughed slightly and looked back to where Harry was standing. I didn't know if dad was coming back to get me so I excused my self to call him. He said he talked to Harry about bring me home and that he would see me in a little bit cause he had to get back to dinner so I ended the call and walked back to my friends. We chatted for a few minutes more and then we left for my house. Well Megan went to her house an met us back at my house. Me and Harry went straight to my house and helped dad with the rest of dinner.

A/N: Another update! Sorry took so long again.

So if you haven't read my bio I am now in a happy relationship with my boyfriend and we had the best date yesterday! We web to the park and then went out to eat and went back to his house and played Just Dance! I honestly don't know how he beat me at One Direction! It was crazy! We were tied and I thought when it came to the part we all know by heart that I would win but nooo somehow he wins! Haha it was the best date ever though!!
