[𝐉𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐏𝐇'𝐒 𝐏𝐎𝐕]

„CLAIRE...CLAIRE!" My voice echoed in the hallways as I tried to keep up with her. However, she couldn't get very far with her short legs and I caught up on her. I grabbed her arm and turned her to me.

„Will you like ever stop? How long are you going to keep running after me? I'm starting to think that you have a crush on me or something.", she screamed the first two sentences, but the last one came out almost as a whisper. Her head was turned to the other way.

The second she stopped talking, my eyes widened slowly. The grip on her arm getting tighter and tighter. She tried to get my hand off of her, but luck was not on her side today.

„You would like that, wouldn't you?" I whispered back, trying to provoke her. The embarrassment got to her and I could see her cheeks warm up. But she answered back immediately.

„What's your deal?" she questioned and a long silence hung in the chilly spring weather.

I didn't notice the redness in her eyes before. But now that we were faced to each other, her green eyes captivated my brown one. Even though the eye-patch made it hard for me to see, her eyes were shining.

„Whatever you feel for me is not real-."

The moment I hear those words leave her lips, I place her hand on my chest, my heartbeat racing a mile a minute.

„Does this sound fake to you?"

I'm standing so close that I can smell the vanilla scent of her clothes. My fingers tense with the need to pull her into me. Her eyes widen when I grab her, pulling her forward until her chest meets mine.

„You've forgotten your place," she gasps.

„No." Lifting my hand, I pluck the leaf out of her hair, allowing the tips of my fingers to graze the side of her face. „I've simply figured out yours."

Her breathing stutters.

„You asked me what my deal is," I continue. „Do you still wish for the answer?"

She moves, pushing my hand away from her face, her head tilting as she watches me with a curious gaze. „This feels like a trick."

Chuckling, I lean my head back.

Footstep sounds were heard from nearby and her eyes fly around from side to side. „I should go," she says. „Jean might be nearby." I wave my arm toward the other end of the street. „So go."

She doesn't move, although her eyes scan the way. „Darling, we both know the risk excites you." I slide closer to her. „Doesn't it?" She blows out a breath.

„Stop doing that."

„Doing what?"

„That," she snaps. „You're infuriating. I'm not sure why I'm even here. I'd rather drink a gallon of bleach than listen to you answer everything with a question for the rest of the day."

My lips tip up in the corners. „So ask me one, instead then, little one."

„Stop calling me pet names," she gripes. „It's not appropriate. Especially when Jean is around."

I smirk, letting out a long sigh. „Fine." I lean back and put a distance between us. „See you later, ma petite princesse" I wink at her for a last time and walk to school, not being able to hold back my laughter.

You'll see Claire Dupin... Just wait.
