MICHELE, SIMONE AND I sat on the stairs of the entrance. I just stared at the sky. Covered by many clouds. „Michele told me that you didn't feel very well." I whispered to Simone, so that no one could hear. „Yeah just got my period." she sighed annoyed. I just smiled apologetically and turned back to the sky.

„Where were you? We didn't see you anywhere." Michele questioned my whereabouts. „Oh just in class. Annick and I had a small talk." I lied. I couldn't tell them what happened. They would ban me from this friendship. My brother would hear about it too and I would be homeschooled like before.

I just can't risk this. Just when I thought about Jean, he left the building with Joseph while purposely hitting my shoulder. The smile on my face naturally plastered when I saw him. He always wants the best for me. „Claire come with me for a second."

My brother called me. Josephs gaze didn't left my body as I got closer to them. „I know we always walk home together but I need to get a project done with Pichon. I thought that Joseph could accompany you on your way home." He said while throwing Joseph an apologetic look.

Before I could even say anything he jumped up and answered. „Yeah don't worry. I had to get some groceries anyways, so I'll take care of that. You don't mind helping Claire, right?" His smirk on his face made want to rip it off of his face. He knew what he was doing. And I did too. „Perfect. You guys don't be too late. Mom will kill us if we miss it." All I could do was to sigh.

I grabbed the house keys out of his hands and made my way back to the girls. Just then a certain green eyed boy left the building with another senior. His eyes fixed on the three of us and he stood still. I nudged Michele on the side to make her aware of her brother. „Jean-Pierre, did you get suspended?" „No, I convinced them with my grades."

The smile on his face gave it away. Michele sat up and hugged him overjoyed. His hands wrapped around her shoulder and his eyes traveled from the ground up to my eyes. I know we didn't like each other that much, but I was happy that he didn't get suspended.

I tried not to smile but he had already seen it and couldn't hold his smile either. Simone was jumping up and down from happiness and congratulating Jean-Pierre. He rushed her with a quick thank you and left slowly.

Before he stepped on the last stairs, he stood in front of me and his hands found my shoulder. My head looked up so high, that my neck was starting to hurt. His soft smile from earlier was back and he whispered. „Thank you for the jacket." My hands found his hands and I pulled them down to mine. „Don't worry about it." I smiled at him, for the first time. His friend dragged him away as we watched them take off to smoke.

„Uhm, are we going to ignore the fact that Jean-Pierre literally smiled at you?!" Simone was freaking out from behind me. I couldn't see her face, because my back was facing them. But then Michele grabbed my shoulder and stared at me with an excited look.

„Did you guys secretly make up? Are you guys friends, without us knowing?" I wanted to tell them that there was nothing going on but my throat was dried shut. All I could do was to nod with my head. I denied their assumptions. „Let's just go pack our things. It's almost time to go home." I ignored their questions and ran inside to get my bag.

Not a single trace of people were left

Not a single trace of people were left. I waited in front of the school for my dear brother and his dumb friend. A whistle broke my thoughts and my back turned. Jean and Joseph both smiling from ear to ear. „Could you guys like hurry? I'm freezing!" I shouted back at them.

„Relax darling, your brother had to talk to Mrs. Couret." Rolling my eyes at the pet name, I slowly took off and started to follow the street which lead to our house. „Au revoir, be careful!" My brother shouted, while Joseph sprinted after me to catch up.

„Could you wait for a minute. I'm exhausted." „I waited enough. I don't want to." My dry answer made him annoyed and he wrapped his arm around my neck. I tried to get him off of me but his grip was too strong.

I eventually gave up and we walked slowly. My hand held his hanging hand on my shoulder. His fingers were going to fall off if he didn't start warming them up.

„You cold?" he asked looking at me. My eyes searched for any trace of care and worry. „A little, but you're freezing." I grabbed his hand tighter and gave it a few squeezes to warm it up. He was a bad guy but he could be nice if he tried.

After our kiss in the classroom I thought I would never be able to look in his eyes ever again. But it felt like it never happened. Maybe that's a good sign that we didn't feel uncomfortable around each other.

His hand squeezed mine too and a little smile made its way to my face. He saw it for sure because he also was smiling, while trying to look away. That's cute. Wait what? What am I talking about?!?
