Cat

Spring is finally here. The flowers are blooming and the birds are back. And it's also close to Maxine's birthday.

That morning I made breakfast for everyone. "Cat, you're up. What's with breakfast?" Max asked.

"We're gonna have a good day." I said. "I want to be positive today."

"Is it the house and everything in it?" He asked. "I bet this is stressful for you."

"A little, but think of this, we're gonna get a house, we're gonna have room for the kids and we'll have a big yard. Trees for privacy."

Corbin came in wearing a big t-shirt and pajama pants. "Hey Corbin, you hungry?" Max asked.

"Yeah. It smells good." He yawned. "What time are we going?" He asked.

"In two hours, so I would like you to take this time to get your things charged and take a shower." I asked.

"Yes Aunt Cat."

"Thank you." I called out. "I got Maxine's stuff charged overnight." I said.

A knock came at the door. "I'll get it." Max went to answer the door.

I started making drinks for everyone as Henry and Max walked in the kitchen. "Why are you cooking for an army?" Henry said.

"Because I want to." I laughed. "I want to start the day with a good meal."

"I love your cooking."

I laughed. "Thanks for coming with us today."

"Of course, I want to see this house, I've been hearing about." Henry said as he started setting the table. "So where are we going?"

"Lake Placid."

"Up state? That place is four hours away from New York City. How are you going to come to work?" Henry asked in surprise.

"We'll cross that bridge when we get to it. Plus the city is too big and I want to get away from the loud and busy. Max and I will be talking about the future when we see the house. Henry, this is my parent's house."

"Aunt Aurora and Uncle Stephan are very much alive."

"My birth parents."

"Birth Parents?"

Oh right, Henry doesn't know. Not a lot of the younger kids know. "I was adopted when I was a baby. I was a few months old when dad found me."

"Is that why Uncle March didn't like you for a while?"

"Yes. I wasn't a dog shifter."

"I have to be honest, I thought cats ran in the family like Uncle Albert."

"No, Uncle Alberts was adopted as well."

"Wow, so if you move, what is going to happen to your job?"

"We can move our company if we want to. Cat and I still need to talk about it." Max said as he drank his coffee.

"Good, cause if and when you two move, I'll be coming with you."

We looked at Henry. "What about you wanting to do more things?" I asked. "I thought this job was only temporary."

"I like the job and the hours. You pay me well enough and I got used to the routine we have. You're not getting rid of me."

We laughed.

"Aunt Cat." I turned and Corbin was holding Maxine's hand.

"Did you get Maxine up and dressed?"

"She had a bath too." Cordin said. "She was up after I went to take a shower."
