Cat
The next day, I felt better, I can't believe I threw up like that. I checked my temperature and I was normal. That afternoon, we hired my cousin, Henry, to take care of paperwork and the going back and forth between the police station for Max and me.
"Good morning Cat."
"Morning Henry, Thanks for taking the job."
"Thank you for giving me the job. I was scared of not getting a job after college." He said.
"I'm happy to help. So, what do you have for me?"
He picked up his tablet. "Max took Maxine to kindergarten and he has a client to look into after that, he said he'll text you later. You have a court hearing you have to go to at 3pm and when that is done you have a meeting with Uncle March about the events coming up."
"Are there any clients coming in today?"
He tapped on the tablet. "You have two coming in today. One has a supposition of a cheating partner and the other didn't say, all he said was "it's urgent"."
"Urgent?" That caught my attention. "That's all he said?"
"Yes."
"What time and where?"
"He said wants to meet you tonight at Time Square and he says he'll take you to dinner and the time is 7pm. He'll be wearing a long coat and a suit."
I nodded. "Okay, thanks Henry, call me if anything changes."
He handed me a file. "I will and this was faxed over to me."
I left the office and went to the police station.
I sat in the courtroom and watched the hearing with the witness that Uncle March wanted me to see. So the guy got assaulted by a couple of rogue wolves. I looked at the file and it looks like he is in the witness protection program, pending, I should say. I see.
Once the guy was done, I followed him and got into the driver seat, as he got in the car, I drove around a few blocks and parked in a parking lot.
"What are you doing?" He said. "You're kidnapping me."
I took off my glasses and turned to him. "Mr. Adams, I'm here because I was asked to put you in a witness protection program."
He sighed in relief. "Thank you."
"I work for the Chief of police, and I want to know if you can give me the names of the rogues that went after you and what they want."
"They work for the lizards and frogs."
"That family has been causing trouble for years. What about them?"
"I've worked as a janitor, I saw some things that I can't unsee." He handed me a piece of paper. "I want my wife and kids safe."
"I'll have someone get them and have you and your family in the program. This might take years."
"I just want them to be safe."
I turned back to the wheel and drove off. I texted some guys and then I got a text back. "Mr. Adams, we have a safe house for you."
After that whole ordeal had been dealt with, I went back to the police station and met up with Uncle March.
"Cat, how have you been?" He smiled as I walked in.
"Good." I tossed the papers on his desk. "Turns out the Lizard Mafia is at it again and we have a witness. I went ahead and put him and his family in the witness protection program and Mr. Adams gave me names, a lot with pictures. We can finally get our hands on that family and put them in jail."
