Cat

That night, Grandma and Ghost came to the door. "Let's go. Everyone left for an event." She said.

I noticed that Ghost had a backpack on and she didn't. "Where's your bag?" I asked.

"His papers and birth certificate are in his backpack. He has a duffle of clothes hidden in the truck." She said.

"What about you?" Corbin asked.

"I'm not going." She led us to the truck by the servant's garage. "I'm going to slow them down."

"No, Grandma, come with us." Ghost begged as we got in the truck.

"Go with Cat. She'll take care of you." She kissed his forehead. "I made a promise to your parents that I would get you out of here when the first opportunity comes." She shut the door and I rolled down the window. She handed me a bag. and it. "It was your father's. I was your father's nanny. Inside he put his prize possession when he left to live in New York." I took the bag and looked inside. It was a picture of my bio-parent's wedding picture when they got married in China. Mother was wearing a traditional wedding dress. "He had to come back after they got married and he found this in his carry on. He wrapped it up and asked me to hold onto it."

I turned to her. "Please come with us." I cried.

"I have to protect you and Ghost." she backed off. "I have a feeling things are going to shake." Then she turned and walked to the house.

I wiped my eyes. "Ghost, where did we go?" I asked.

He closed his eyes. "Followed this road. It'll lead to the back roads. No one ever goes to the background except the staff." Then we heard shots.

I floored it and got us out of there. "I'm sorry Ghost." Corbin said.

"I fought with her for hours." Ghost said. "She told me it was time."

"Listen Ghost. I made a promise to your Grandma that I'll take care of you. Okay?"

"Yes, ma'am." He nodded.

"Hey you'll love our family." Corbin was trying to cheer Ghost up. "You'll have a lot of cousin's, uncle's, aunt's, grandparents that will love you."

"Okay." he said.

"Corbin, honey, give him time." I said.

"Yes. Aunt Cat."

I didn't slow down as we got to the road. I peeled out of there and drove as fast as I could.

"What's the plan now?" Corbin asked.

"Keep driving till we get to a gas station. Fuel up, get food and drinks and then get a hold of Max."

We drove until sunrise and I found a gas station. Corbin and Ghost went to go get food while I'm filling up the truck. I felt something in my bra. I looked and it was my cell phone. Oh my stars, I had my phone.

I quickly called Max.

Max

I can't believe I was at the station all night. I went over so many surveillance cameras around the mall and nothing. I even went to the mall to sniff out the car. I followed the car to the train station but I could see what train they used. I have to get to bed so I can function. My phone rang when I came back to my car. "Evan."

"Max, you have to come over here." Georgia said.

"Where is Evan, are you guys okay?" I got in the car and raced to the beach house.

"Someone broke in and tried to take Maxine. Evan fought them off and I called 911. They are taking him to the hospital."

"I'm coming, stay with the cops."
