It was a week after the birthday party. Arna was in the playground with her cousins and friends.
They were playing hide and seek.
Vivi Lilag, one of Arna's cousins was the seeker.
"I'll start counting. 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... 6... 7... 8... 9... 10. Ready or not? Here I come!"
Vivi opened her eyes and started searching for the other seven hiders. She ran towards the slide and saw underneath it. Nothing.
She went to the bushes and peeked behind them.
"Found you. 1 down 6 to go!"
Vivi had found Maria Yuhi, seven year old Universal linguist, one of their friends.
Maria ran to her mom who was sitting with the other moms on the benches, a bit away from the kids but not too far to not be able to keep an eye on the kids. She drank water from her mom's water bottle and returned to watch Vivi.
Meanwhile, Vivi went towards a tree and found her 6 year old little sister, Lia Lilag, on one of the branches. "Found another. 2 down 4 more to go", Vivi shouted. Letting all the other hiders know that she is coming for them.
Lia was climbing down the tree, when she slipped. She was about to fall face first onto the ground but something slowed her down. She was levitating over the ground. She made a soft landing, shocking both Vivi and Maria. Vivi screamed for her mom to come.
Hani Lilag, Vivi and Lia's mom came running.
"What's wrong?", Hani asked.
"Mom. You won't believe what I just saw. Lia was falling down from the tree when she stopped mid-air and landed softly. Something made her not fall hard on the ground.", said Vivi, with a bright eagerness on her face.
"Can you try that once again Lia? Like don't fall off of the tree again but try to jump on the ground itself and land softly.", asked Hani.
Lia jumped but could not land softly. She tried again and again. After a few tries, Lia jumped and stayed in the air for a few seconds and landed softly.
Hani understood what was happening. Lia had discovered her powers. Power of Gravity defiance. She could make her falls less painful.
"Oh Great Deitys! My little daughter discovered her powers!"
All the other moms present there cheered.
"Isn't it so cool? I discovered my powers 2 years ago when I was six years old. My younger sister too discovers her powers when she is six. I got Gravity manipulation and she got Gravity defiance.
We'll make a great duo when a threat arises. Anyone can tell we're sisters", said Vivi, and hugged Lia.
The parents left to continue their chat.
"Everyone come out. We'll start the game from the beginning", said Maria.
All the remaining four kids came out of their hiding spot. "I won!!", screamed Vivi. "I found y'all."
"What? No you didn't. We came out to restart the game!", protested Gior Kirt, a nine year old Phaser. "You can't consider this as YOUR WIN",he continued.
"Why not? I can. I didn't ask you all to come out. I would have continued the game", said Vivi.
"Both of you stop it! We are playing once again. Maria can be the seeker", said Fahen Sarf, an 8 year old boy who still hadn't found his powers.
He expected everyone to say, 'Why are you speaking? You haven't got your powers yet but still we play with you. You can't say anything here'
But nobody said anything. Maria went to the counting place and started counting. Others left to hide.
He was dumb found. What just happened?
He too went to hide. The game went smoothly. Maria found Arna first, Lia second... again, Gior third, Vivi fourth, Fahen fifth and lastly the Lilag twins, Gumi and Kumi as sixth and seventh.
For some brainless reason, the 5 year old twins were hiding together. But somehow managed to get caught last.
"Let's all sit for a while and chat", said Fahen.
Everyone immediately sat down in a circle and started chatting about food, games, favourites, etc...
Fahen was confused. This never happened to him before. He asked,"Vivi, do a dance, will you"
Vivi got up and said 'Sure' and started dancing.
Now everyone shared the same shocked face of Fahen. Fahen said,"Stop dancing Vivi". She stopped.
He understood what had happened. He discovered his powers. His power was that people do whatever he says. Power of Command.
He ran to his mom and said,"Mom hug me." She did.
"Mom caress my cheeks." She did.
"Mom lift me up." She did.
"What's happening to me? Why am I doing everything you ask for?", asked Fahen's mom.
"That's my power. Power of Command."
"Dear Deity! Really?"
"Yes" "Praise me"
"You are the best son ever. I'm so lucky to have you. You truly are Great Deitys' gift. You are a wonder..."
"Okay stop. I know you don't mean most of the things."
"What? no! I mean all of those things which I said. Though it was under your power's influence. It was still the truth."
"Love you mom"
"Love you too son "
Fahen and his mom hugged each other with happiness.
"It's getting late. Let's take our leave", said the twins' mom.
"Yeah. It was a great evening but we still have to get home.", said Gior's mom.
They all fetched their kids and got together to say their farewells.
"Mumma. Gumi and I are five years old. But we found our power. Why Arna didn't find?", asked Kumi.
"Yeah mom. I have supersight and Kumi has Superhearing. Why Arna has nothing?"asked Gumi.
"Aa.. ha-ha... Excuse me for a second", said the twins' mom a bit awkwardly. "You can't ask such questions in front of everyone, kids. Each child takes their own time to get powers", she whispered to her twins.
Everyone said their byes and left for home.
