Author's pov

Jungkook didn’t really have any motives to get to know Taehyung, it was all a course of action taken by his parents to marry. He had his own particular beliefs, he didn’t ever want to marry but if he had to, it would be with someone he found interest in and found compelling but because of the time they lived in, marriage was not a choice; rather an obligation, being assigned who exactly you are to marry. That is why he did not find Taehyung enjoyable, they were just a mere someone who he did not wish to spend his time with.

He wasn’t really sure as to why Taehyung staggered over their words, did the coma play with their mind or something? They weren’t upset were they? This was what they had agreed on so it is how it shall stay. Empathy wasn’t really something Jungkook was good at anyways.

”Well then, now that you have your inquiries answered, shall we get going” he asked—yet it was sort of like a demand they had to complete. Time. Time was valuable to Jungkook and it was something he did not wish to spend on talking with the male.

He still noticed the hanbok and hair of Taehyung’s, just giving it a look to make sure the male looked nice before they went out of the palace walls.

He turned around and began making his way out of the room, sliding the door open as he glanced at the court ladies who were around as they swiftly bowed. “Clean this room once we leave, just as it was before” he responded. They had made arrangements to the room when Taehyung had fallen into a coma but now that they were well, they would no longer need the customization.

He began walking out of the palace, anticipating that Taehyung would follow as he didn’t want to wait any longer.

Jungkook was just going to look for a few things at the market, not really sure if Taehyung would want anything anyways. They’d just gotten up from a coma so everything was as if it had restarted

Taehyung's heart sank as Jungkook's indifference washed over him like a cold wave. His mind raced, trying to decipher the reasons behind Jungkook's distant demeanor. Was it because of the circumstances that brought them together? Or was it something deeper, something personal to Jungkook?

His thoughts jumbled as he tried to steady himself, his gaze lingering on Jungkook's face, searching for any hint of emotion. But Jungkook's expression remained impassive, leaving Taehyung feeling like a mere inconvenience in his presence.

As Jungkook's words cut through the tense silence, Taehyung nodded slowly, masking the hurt and confusion that gnawed at his insides. With a forced smile, he replied, "Of course, let's go." But his voice sounded hollow even to his own ears, betraying the turmoil within.

As they left the palace walls behind, Taehyung couldn't shake the feeling of being judged by Jungkook's scrutinizing gaze. He smoothed down his hanbok nervously, a futile attempt to hide the insecurity that bubbled beneath the surface.

Despite his efforts to appear composed, Taehyung couldn't help but wonder if he would ever truly understand the enigma that was Jungkook.
