Lesli's Perspective
The following weeks flew by, though they were extremely exhausting. We had long filming days and slept very little, but still, everyone did what was needed to keep the series moving forward.
During a brief break, as we were eating and talking about the next scenes we were going to shoot, I received a call. Hello?
Lesli? How are you? It's Jeff, just wanted to let you know I've arrived in Kyle.
Jeff, it's great to hear from you. I'll send you the address of where we're filming so you can come over.
Perfect, see you there!
A few days ago, Jeff Davis, the creator of the series 'Criminal Minds,' contacted me to request a meeting with him and Y/N. I had an idea of what the meeting might be about, but I was curious why he had gone to the trouble of coming here in person.
Thirty minutes later, Tim approached the table accompanied by Jeff. The surprise on Y/N's face upon seeing him was clear. After the proper greetings, Jeff sat next to me and said, "Lesli, thanks for your time. I know you're busy with an important filming project, so I'll be brief. We're planning a new season of 'Criminal Minds' and we'd like Y/N to be our main director of photography."
Jeff's words surprised us all. Tim and John immediately looked towards Y/N and then at me, waiting for my reaction. Y/N, on her part, just looked at Jeff. Clearing my throat, I responded, "Jeff, I really appreciate you coming personally to tell me this. As you know, Y/N is the main director of photography on this project. Aside from what I decide, she also needs to make a decision about this." Jeff looked nervous.
All eyes turned to Y/N, awaiting her answer. "Jeff, you know that 'Criminal Minds' is one of the most important projects of my career, just like this one. I would love to accept and join you for the new season of the series, but I've committed to Lesli and want to finish my work here before starting another project. Would it be possible to wait until we finish shooting? I still need to take care of post-production and wouldn't want to leave things incomplete."
"Of course, Y/N, I expected no less from you. I just came to make sure you're available before you commit to another project. With Lesli's permission, I wanted to be the one to first tell you about the new season. How much time do you think you'll need?" Jeff spoke calmly.
"We have about a month left of shooting, and we estimate we'll need three more weeks for post-production and some final touches," I told him.
"Perfect, we'll arrange everything to start filming the new season once you're done here. However, I need Y/N to come with me to Los Angeles to sign some important documents. That's the only urgent matter. That's why I'm asking Y/N to accompany me for a few days. Lesli, I hope you understand these are necessary legal procedures," he explained.
"Of course, no problem. Y/N don't worry about this. You can go with Jeff, meanwhile, Tim, John, and I will keep working," I quickly responded to reassure Y/N.
"Y/N, we'll keep you updated on everything we do here while you're gone. You have our support," Tim added, with John nodding at his side.
"Alright, after we finish today, we'll take the first flight out tomorrow," Y/N announced, standing up to hug Jeff and then me. "Thank you, Lesli."
"You're one of the best people I've worked with. Don't worry about a thing. Do what you need to do in Los Angeles and come back soon. We have an important scene left to shoot," I told her with a wink.
Jeff announced that he would take the day to explore the city and then rest at his hotel. Later, he and Y/N would go together to the Austin airport.
Shortly after, Tim and John got up from the table to start preparing what was needed for the upcoming scenes we had pending. At that moment, Lizzie approached with a look of curiosity. Another important conversation was about to begin.
"Hey girls, can I ask who that man was who came earlier?" she asked.
"Lizzie, please, have a seat," I responded. She sat down next to Y/N. Y/N took her hand, settling in to look at her directly.
"Hermosa, that man was Jeff Davis, the creator of the 'Criminal Minds' series. He came to talk to Lesli and me," Y/N began to explain.
"And what did he want?" asked Lizzie, curious.
"He told us they are making another season of the series, and he wants me to work with them again, this time as the main director of photography."
"What did you tell him?"
"I said yes, but I have to finish what I'm doing here first. He agreed, though I need to travel to Los Angeles soon to sign some important papers."
Lizzie took a moment to absorb Y/N's words, while Y/N tenderly caressed her hands.
"When are you leaving?" she asked, a bit worried.
"I'm leaving early tomorrow. I'll pick up Jeff in my car and we'll go to Austin airport together. I'll only be away for a few days," explained Y/N.
"I'm going to miss you so much and it won't be the same without you these days. But please, don't take too long to come back, okay?" Lizzie said this last part giving Y/N a tight hug.
I watched the scene, observing the tender moment they shared. Their relationship seemed adorable to me, and I was glad to see the affection they had for each other.
The day continued without further incidents. Before we knew it, we were packing up after shooting the last scene of the day and saying goodbye to head off to rest. In a few more weeks, we would have to shoot a highly anticipated and complicated scene, and truthfully, I am both excited and nervous about it.
