Jennie walked into the mansion early the next morning, eager to see Lisa but scared at what she might find. Following the sounds of yelling and the smell of coffee, she found her pacing in the kitchen, talking on the phone. Smiling at her, she reached up and grabbed a mug and turned to pour herself a cup. As she turned around to look at her, Lisa turned away, refusing to look her in the eye. Jennie started a bit but thought maybe it had something to do with her being on the phone. Taking a seat in the nearest chair, she decided to wait until she finished her conversation before, she got upset.
"Kai, that's not what we agreed upon." Lisa listened, continuing to pace. "Yes, I understand. But they can't just change the price in the middle of a job. So, you better let them know that unless they stand behind their original bid, we're going to sue them for everything they own. And don't forget to throw Teddy' name around if you need to." Back and forth she went, intently listening to the other side of the conversation, the one that Jennie couldn't hear. "Fine, Kai, you do that. Can I assume you'll be on the plane this afternoon?"
Wondering who Kai was, Jennie sat back and waited for Lisa to finish. As Lisa agreed to pick this unknown person up at the airport, she hung up her cell phone, still avoiding Jennie's eyes. Starting to get nervous, Jennie approached her and wrapped her arms around her waist. Though Lisa didn't push her away, she didn't join her either. Feeling awkward, Jennie took a couple of steps back, looking up into her face.
"You want to tell me what's wrong?" Jennie asked.
Finally looking up at her, Lisa could see the pain in her eyes. "No, I really don't. But it doesn't seem like I have much of a choice. Let's go to my room."
Jennie didn't know what was wrong, but she instinctively knew she didn't want to know. She figured she had lost, and Krystal had won. As she turned to leave the room she grabbed her arm, halting her progress. "No, Lisa, I don't want to know. I have a job to do, and that's what I'm going to do. I hope you and Krystal will be very happy."
Angrily, Lisa turned on her. "Jennie, for the second time in less than twelve hours, I'm sitting in this kitchen asking a woman to stop putting words in my mouth, and I'm not very happy about it." Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she swooped her arm towards the door, gallantly offering her the doorway. "Now, please, let's take this somewhere private. My life is screwed up enough without having to announce it to the world."
Shocked and concerned, Jennie could only nod, exiting the kitchen and heading towards her bedroom, with her on her heel.

Jennie sat on the bed, not daring to say anything. Lisa's obvious irritation was making her nervous. Not because she was afraid of what she would do, but because she was afraid of what she was about to say. Trying to calm the situation, she gently asked, "Lisa please, sit down somewhere. You're starting to scare me."
Sitting next to her, Lisa ran her fingers through her hair in frustration. Knowing what she needed to do was not the same as wanting to do it. Looking into her eyes, she was shocked at the love and acceptance she saw there. "Sorry, Jennie. I didn't mean to scare you."
"I know you didn't. But I think you need to tell me what's going on, because my imagination has now taken a really bizarre vacation, and it's a trip I don't want to be on."
"You can't even imagine," she sighed.
"Okay, this is so not good. I don't suppose this is something you could just not tell me? Knowledge isn't always a good thing." Jennie was truly frightened now.
Turning towards her, Lisa grabbed her hands and looked into her face. "No, Jennie, I can't not tell you this. But first let me tell you that the last few days have been the best of my life. I meant what I said last night. I love you. And if I would give just about anything to not have to tell you this."
