Letting Go {Casualty}

Nine

Kenzie knew how she was thinking over things with Iain. She knew how she wanted to make it work and she knew how it scared her.

She knew what a great guy Iain was and she knew how he had been there for her but part of her felt as if she was betraying Andy. But she knew how Andy was gone. And how nothing was going to change that and she knew how she had to get on with her life.

Kenzie sat texting Iain and sighed to herself. She knew how the whole situation was complicated. She knew how she had to make it work. But she knew how part of her was scared.

She loved Andy and he had died and if she let herself fall in love with Iain and it didn't work out. She knew that she'd never forgive herself.

Kenzie knew just what a great friend that he was. She knew how he had been there and been her rock. And how he had been there for Summer when he didn't have to.

Kenzie knew what a great man he was. And she knew how deep down that she was scared.

Kenzie knew that she needed to talk to Iain over it all and what was going on. She knew how he had told her that he liked her. But she didn't know what that meant.

Kenzie didn't know if it meant that he wanted to start something with her or if it was that he just cared for her. She knew how complicated it was.

Kenzie got to work. She stood in the staffroom as Amelia walked in and looked to her and smiled. "Hey are you okay?" Amelia asked. 

Kenzie looked to her and sighed. "I don't know my head is a mess. I don't know what to think."

"Iain?" Amelia asked.

Amelia nodded "I know how the situation is. And how it isn't easy. But Iain is a good man. And I get that you're scared. But if you ask me, I do think that you two will be good together take a chance," she said.

Kenzie looked to her and smiled. "I guess. I am just worried that if it doesn't work out."

"I get that but what if it's the best thing that happens to you. You deserve this," Amelia said as Kenzie looked to her and smiled.

She knew that Amelia was right. And how she had to take a chance in this and after all it was Iain. He was a good man.

Kenzie walked into the ambulance bay. She looked to see Iain who smiled. "Are you okay?" He asked.

Kenzie looked to him and smiled. "Yeah sorry. I have just been clearing my head over some stuff. Over us. I know that there is something going on with us. And it scares me. I just want to make it work."

Iain looked to her and smiled. "I know it's not easy. I do but I am here and care for you Kenzie. And I promise you I am not going to hurt you," he said as he brushed her hair out of her face as he leant in and kissed her

But could they make a relationship work?
