I RUB MY EYES AWAKE, sitting up as i notice a glass of water and an aspirin on the table beside me. however, my location only sets into realisation only after a few moments. 'shit.' i curse, lifting the duvet to check if my underwear is still on, which it is, as i release a sigh of relief.

i groan, rubbing my temples softly as i take a sip of water with the aspirin before searching for my phone. once i find it dead in my purse, i walk across the room to find a charger.

'oh, you're awake.' charles says, seemingly nervous as i jump while turning around to see him.

'you scared me.' i murmur before plugging the charger into my phone as i wait for it to turn on.

'have you checked social media?' he asks softly, walking over to me. i shake my head, furrowing my brows as i look over at the brunette. he releases a breath before speaking. 'don't panic, okay?'

'what the fuck do you mean, 'don't panic'?' i ask, reaching for his phone as he shows me a video circulating the media. it's a video of me drinking, a lot more than normal and my friends all laughing with me. it's captioned: 'théadora dubois is an ADDICT.' 'no, no, no, no, no.' i repeat as i take the phone from him, pacing while reading the comments.

'théa, breathe.' charles soothes, taking the phone from me and holding my hands gently as he looks into my eyes. 'what's going on?' he asks, raising his voice a little as i sigh.

'i've been addicted to alcohol since i was 19, i've been going to rehab ever since. my father didn't want anyone to know so he didn't tell your family either.' i explain quietly as i cross my arms over my chest, looking anywhere but at him.

charles looks at me with concern. 'why didn't you tell me?' he asks, almost sadly as i shrug, moving a bunch of curls out of my face.

'i expected hugo to have told you to be honest.' i murmur as charles shakes his head.

but before he can speak, my phone rings and my spine stiffens. 'shit.' i murmur, walking across the room. the caller id reads, 'papa' as i look at charles while answering. 'alo?'

my father yells through the phone, very clearly having seen what's been going around as i fall silent. it's only a few moments before charles reaches for the phone, taking it off of me. 'pierre, it's charles.'

after a few moments, he ends the call and passes it back to me as i sit on the bed, crossing my legs. 'what did he say?' i ask as charles shrugs.

'you'll be fine. he's trying to get it sorted out.' he says simply, clearly leaving out something else. i just nod slowly as i feel my eyes start to water, rubbing them immediately. 'théa–'
